Toyota has this $0 down 0% financing for 72 months on some models (2012/2013). The one i am interested in is 2012 Rav4 AWD LE. I have a 2008 mazda3 and was thinking of trading that in and get a brand new Rav4.

Any suggestions??

Yeah if it's one you want and you can pay it off in the time frame you really have nothing to lose!

If it works for you great.....
But I'll toss in my two cents. They have a completely new and redesigned model hitting the showroom for 2014. They're trying to move existing product. Apart from the financing at 0%, the price may be better in a few months. Something to consider. Happy shopping!

Me like Brian P, hate the 1st year model.

Another thing, if I was to get a SUV, it has to be diesel

why not? whats a little more debt

They have a new RAV4 coming and are moving old stock. The current RAV4 is an ancient design by today standards. Toyota milked this platform for all it could. Its interior is clearly a decade behind.

Toyota has the highest recall rating of any manufacturer and the recent crash tests in some of their models indicates to me flaws in engineering.

For this reason I am hesitant now to recommend Toyota like I used to.

Make sure you read fine print. Whenever they say 0 down 0 % financing. They usually have hidden admin fees to set up the account. At the end of the day it works out the same as if you are paying a low interest rate over the term of the loan.

Beware of ANYONE wanting business and luring you in with 0% interest, no matter what model year it is.

When auto. financing interest rates are low, they will adjust the vehicle's price, or associated "fees" appropriately to bring the cost of the vehicle similar to what you would have paid if you had purchased a vehicle at 5% financing (just a number).

The only way to really "know" if you are getting a good deal is to have the dealerships fight over your business. I wish I could find the article but it was a good read regarding calling/emailing a few dealerships and informing them of a future purchase you have. Be sure to have the EXACT model (and most importantly all the extra's/addon's/features) in mind when you inform them that you will be comparing their "quote" with the other dealerships in the area to see who will get the sale. Either take that quote, or get a specific dealer to beat it if you want to give them your particular business (closer dealership, etc...). Be sure to tell them you are "shopping around".

Sure margins are slim, but do your homework and it'll pay off.
