Perhaps a stupid question -- but what is the shelf life like? Does it make sense to buy a couple extra for next season? Does this type of sale occur regularly?

Takes a couple of thousand years to make oil. Seriously though it will last just fine with the cap on (keep oxygen out). I have a sealed jug that's a year or so old. I don't have any worries about it.

It's also full synthetic. In a sealed jug it would be more than fine.

ah crap! i did my oilchange 2 weeks ago with a full price jug :( but why not stock up!

any concerns about switching to synthetic from regular in a higher mileage bike? I've heard that you gotta be careful (for high mileage car engines) when going from regular to synthetic as the synthetic could cause leaks in the engine rings and seals. I don't quite know how this happens but was just wondering if anyone else heard or knows of anything like this

Define "higher Mileage bike" some people consider 20,000km "high" :lmao:

Shelf life only becomes a concern after it's already been put in an engine that's been running and picked up some acidic products of combustion.

Everything I've read since ever says this is a bad myth.

I ran it in my Porsche 944 with over 300 km on it and it didn't make the leaks any worse than they already were, lol.
