Sharing a parking spot

Say theres a full parking lot, is it cool to park your bike next to someone elses? Two bikes can easily share a normal parking space. Is it considered bad manner to do this or what?

I figure if someone did it to me I wouldn't care so long as my bike isn't touched and still standing.

Two words: 'Wasaga Beach'. Hell yes. As long as you're not blocking them in, whatever.

Wasn't there an incident with members of this board in the past where they had four bikes to a spot and all got tickets? Was that in Niagara Falls or Wasaga Beach?

I can talk about Wasaga. As long as one of the bikes in the spot has a parking pass, all is OK. But the ticket issuer guy said if the pass expires, ALL bikes get tickets. So we took turns buying passes, worked out just fine - 5 bikes one spot.

Parking rules are usually highly localized, you might want to check with whatever municipality you plan on parking in.

I dont think he means the law.

I think he's asking if we give a ****, I personally don't. The second bike in the spot may just be enough of a visual to stop that cell phone wielding 16 year old blonde girl in daddies escalade from flying into the parking spot and knocking a bike over... I guess its kinda like blocking positions in a parking lot lol.

I think it depends on the bike. It's not impossible but it can be a bit more crowded with two large touring bikes in a spot, but a couple sport bikes will fit easily. I ride a goldwing most of the time and I typically park in the middle of the spot. When I'm on a smaller bike I often will park more to one side or the other and wouldn't be bothered if others were parked with me.

It depends on how the first bike is parked. If a bike is parked in the center of the space or on a diagonal, I read that as the owner wants the whole space. If its parked to the side, leaving enough room, I read that as an invitation to share the space. I tend to leave enough space for another bike intentionally. Problem is, if it is a crowded lot some brainless cager might attempt to share the space with you as well - what with our not being real vehicles with rights and all

Its happened to me a few times. The other day at Bluffers beach I got back to my bike and there were a group of 20-something males all standing around my bike. One of them goes something to the effect of "Hey man can you move this I have to get my car in there". It looked like they were fixing to try to pick it up and move it
