Maybe this is common knowledge, I just found this out. Lemon Pledge. Picked up the No Name brand version. Does a real nice job. Use on cold surfaces.

And use very sparingly. For some reason, only the lemon version works.

Been using it for some time. Inexpensive, available everywhere.

Lemon Pledge...
I put that $#!T on everything.

So this is to clean what exactly? I just 30th mine and use showtime for a quick detail :dontknow:

So far I've used it only to clean surfaces. I was reading a very well respected bike builders thread where he mentioned using it as a fiberglass mold release and as an aside he mentioned using Lemon Pledge exclusively for bike cleaning. That's all I needed to hear. The internet is that powerful.

Do your helmet and visor too.
Let it sit for a bit to remove bug splatter and it works as an anti-fog spray for your visor. Hockey players have been using it on their visors for years.
I use HDX, the Home Depot brand, 1/10 the price of plexus.

Buy Optimum No Rinse in bulk.
Dilute for various tasks (quick detailer, full-on-no-hose-wash, claybar lube).

Very economical when you are diluting 1:6 ratio with water.

I find that oven cleaners work well, you can't see much dirt after that stuff is sprayed on and extra good if you need to rechrome...

Actually, oven cleaner is great for removing melted bootheel from chrome pipes from inattentive passengers. Use on warm (not hot) pipes and thoroughly mask any nearby painted areas; it will strip the paint. Let it sit briefly, wipe clean with a soft cloth, and rinse well. Shine up the pipes with a good quality chrome polish and you're good to go.
I've done this more than once (daughter could be a little careless with her foot position) and never had a problem.

Pledge is a thin wax with some volatile solvents and fake odor. The solvents help clean and the wax is left behind. It's a very weak wax, and I doubt it would work as a mold-release agent. Plus the overspray gets everywhere.

Better off with proper soap and water (not dish soap) and a high quality wax.

did I mention he was well respected? lol, Sakurama previously of Team Obsolete.........but w/e

Last bike I never washed with anything other than Plexus (first wash) and after that can ran out used Pledge ever since. Never even used water on the thing.

Makes your wheels easier to clean, too.

Respected or not, people post all sorts of tips on the interweb to make their posts stand out, but why anyone would use lemon pledge as a mold release when there is properly designed mold release is beyond me. I've seen people recommend vaseline.

It may work sometimes because the wax is aerosolized and will shoot into the mold, but there are proper agents that do this and they aren't expensive.
