My ad for the Hypermotard is in Autotrader.I have someone serious about it.But i got this.Bahahahahaha

Buyer:Ok just wanted to make sure nothing is been left out.
I will be purchasing this for $9,300,Payment will be sent using PayPal
and i will handle the PayPal surcharge as well. I will arrange with
someone to have this picked up for your location once i have paid as i
am out of town at the moment. In the meantime, can you send me more
pictures (if available)?
Regards

Me: Cash only.

Buyer:I trust PayPal more, they are the biggest financial institution online,
but i am sorry i can only get to pay you with PayPal. It is easy to
get an account, just go to www.paypal.com, all they need from you is a
valid credit card or bank account

Regards,

Me:Bye.

Kijiji is just as bad.... I have my old F4 posted for $2,300

Email: "I'll give you $1,000"
Me: "Sure, but you don't get the suspension, forks or wheels....."
Email: "How does it run?"
Me: "Runs great, but without the above I can't say it'll go very fast...."

Or the one asking for my phone number again because he lost is three times, then replies a week later "Oh, sorry I Just bought one yesterday".

Seems legit.

People in forestry who can't access phones but can access email, and people working on off shore oil rigs need bikes too Rick.

Just make sure to tell them that there is a 45 day waiting period before they are able to pick it up.
Or just let them know that your neighbour is a police officer and he will be there to witness the bill of sale.

Well I work up on a remote site. We have no phone signal for about 90km from my location. I am up here for two weeks at a time. When I see an ad on kijiji I sometimes offer to give a deposit for paypal and ask for a phone number so I can call. I am sure this must sketch some people out. But I don't know what else I can do. It sucks when you come up to the bush and miss out on major deals down south. I missed out big time on a 2009 ZX6R for $5000 this way... I will never get over that...

They're willing to cover the surcharge etc, that's cool.
Tell them that you will in no circumstances give them the ownership or keys until the money has been successfully transferred to your account by PayPal (usually a couple of days).
Get a witness, and get a copy of their license.
Should make it pretty safe.

Avoid like the plague.

Its a scam, and still cant believe people fall for this on a daily basis.

They will transfer the money to your account no problems, Its just after they get the ownership they cancel the payment through paypal due to non-shipment or just use a stolen CC. If you don't have a tracking number Paypal will side with the buyer.(As you have 45 days to dispute a purchase)

I would love to set one of them up and have police waiting for them when they arrive.

Seems legit.

Unless the guy intends to file a claim with paypal that he never "received" the item, pending what details are on the actual transaction. Then he can file with paypal, who will then try to force recover funds from you (if they are successful).

I've had some bad experiences with EBay, but Paypal has always secured me... unfortunately, they're too "consumer supportive" sometimes.

What a deal! Are you selling any other bikes in the near future?

My post was meant to convey sarcasm. "Seems Legit" is a common theme for Demotivational Posters that show obvious fraudulent situations, but I guess it doesn't carry over to this site.

If they can get internet to your remote location, they can get a phone line. Otherwise, you could call a seller with Skype.

I detest AutoTrader for that reason, I get nothing but scams!
Kijiji FTW.
+1. I never got one legit buyer through Autotrader, all scams. I was suprised when I had very few scammers on Kijiji.

This one has been in Autotrader for a while.

Aprilia 2008 Tuono for $4900

Received an e-mail that the "Bike is in London, England but he will ship it to me for a small fee" and if I was not happy with the bike I could send it back.

Interestingly it has a local phone number to give it some creditability. However it has been there for weeks and I know trader advertising is not free.

Free for 7 days, maybe they just keep re-posting?

After doing this for a while it becomes second nature when you spot these scams... The easiest by far is when you get a text message or email saying "Is the ITEM for sale?"

Item? What? You cant freaking read the ad? No body says "Is your item for sale"...
