Selling a bike and paypal

I posted a bike on kijiji Friday night and I have had 5 of the working out of the country...will pay with paypal and have a shipping company pick it up deals offered. Just wondering, with scams....assuming they are scams, guess they might be legit....like this so popular does anybody even still deal with paypal. Anybody sold a bike on kijiji recently and had these offers? What are the chances of them being legit?

Stay far far away. Only take cash, no cheques, no paypal, no shipping. Deal with real people only, don't even reply to anyone trying to talk you into any sort of shipping deal.

total scam- just like when they are selling a bike here but are working out of country- scam scam scam if they don't take cash or have cash don't do it

Next you will be saying that the Nigerian prince I have given my banking information to isn't legit.

If I were to follow through and accept the payment how does this scam work?

Do they really think I am going to let their "trusted shipping company" pick up my vehicle?

I'm tempted to play their game to see what really happens.

They file a claim with Paypal saying they never received the item, and since you have no proof of shipping..

But yeah, get the money, and insist to ship it to them via courier, even offer to pay the costs then post all the exchanges here for us to giggle at.

Stay far, far away. Any time I post a bike on craigslist and kijiji I get a slew of these Paypal scams. Each one has a 'normal' sounding email name, but check out the patchy English and the overly-generic questions they ask. I can usually spot 'em even before they bust out the Paypal pitch.

IMO they have no interest in getting your bike or "Item". They are either harvesting addresses or looking for a way to crack into your paypal account. I use a throw away hotmail or yahoo email address for stuff like CL or stores that offer promos.

Often they send a fraudulent Paypal confirmation that looks very legit, but when you check your account there is no $$, but by then your item (bike, iphone, laptop, etc.) is shipped. Another variation is that the Paypal account is linked to a stolen credit card, and you get nothing once the transaction is reversed by Paypal.
