Sellers market due to covid?

Hello all. So most of us know what's going on in the INSANE housing market along with crazy long waitlists to buy a bicycle etc. I've been looking to sell my cbr500 and have been searching ads to see what people are asking. Am I crazy to think people are asking more then they are worth? Are more people flocking to motorcycles as a new hobby to get outdoors? Is it really a sellers market? Anyone care to weigh in? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller.....Bueller?

It's definitely a sellers market for any recreational products due to COVID.

New and used prices are through the roof because everyone is flush with cash (CERB, not going out to restaurants, dry cleaning, personal hygiene products) and loads of free time.

Personally, I'm not paying $2,000+ for a scalped XBOX, but I've heard of people who are.

As others have pointed out

Spring plus covid discretionary spending = inflated toy market

Definitely a seller's market right now. Typical years would see anywhere between 20000 to 35000 motorcycle listings on Kijiji Ontario wide at the end of March.
Currently there are 12505 listings in Ontario and only 38545 listings Canada wide.
Wash that bike, put it up for sale!
On the flip side, remember you'll now be buying in that same market. If the right deal shows up, jump fast. Like same day fast. I'm not kidding.

I've read articles saying used car prices are up 15%. Was in a bike dealership in December buying new to me Tracer and sales guy said they've never seen a year like 2020. Anything dirt related, bikes, ATV's, side by side, flew out the door and they sold out. Boats dealers experienced the same thing. I think 2021 will be similar, but maybe not as frantic.

No one in their right mind would buy and I don't want to be on stupid overpriced thread

considering how many people in the GTA ride or want to vs. how many see the stupid overpriced thread? price it for whatever you want. We have people posting over in that thread that don't ride motorcycles LOL

Home improvement and lifestyle improvement markets are surging. Those that have discretionary income (for reasons already noted) are using this opportunity to make changes. This creates a shift in value to the betterment of the seller.

I sold a bike about 5 years ago that made it to the stupid overpriced thread. Bike sold for $200 under asking. Stupidly overpriced is someone's perception of the value of an item.

I'm with Mimico_polack, who cares what GTAM thinks. Sell your bike, what is paid for it is the buyers cross to carry.

I feel for every 10 bikes on the Stupid overpriced thread, 2 or 3 deserve to be there. I have seen bikes on there and I look on Kijiji and everyone selling those bikes are within a couple hundred dollars of what the guy on the stupid priced thread is asking.

Just a thought. Maybe a new thread should be started for bikes for sale in 2021 what the asking price was and what the actual selling price was. It could prove handy for people wanting to sell their bikes. What does everyone think? Good or bad idea?

No point. You’ll never get final value. Frankly I don’t think I would post what I bought or sold the bikes for. My business. No one else’s.

Also, there are maybe only 30-40 people who post regularly on GTAM, and a fraction of those are buying/selling bikes.

Not a good sample size to be remotely useful in determining big picture trends in pricing.
