Scrap Ontario Drive Clean Scam Petition

The government actually believes that drive-clean is a waste of time and resources, for all the same reasons we do. However, all the big chains (Canadian tire, active green and ross, etc) that bought the drive-clean approved equipment for thousands and thousands of dollars successfully petitioned to keep it in place indefinitely. This is the same reason that the cut off date for older vehicles was frozen at 1988 (instead of being the rolling 15 years), to ensure the largest number of cars possible would continue to require drive-clean certs every 2 years, to help offset the cost of the equipment and servicing and ensuring it becomes profitable instead of a cost to the service shops.

What's even more scummy about it is this company called parsons i think greased enough palms to get them selves as the sole supplier of machines and service, they used to supply only the paper products before.
So they just put any other machine supplier in ontario out of business, ESP is one of them. The shop i worked at never liked e-tests, but had to buy into it to support their customers and not have to send them to some rip off shop down the street. $80,000.00 is what it cost at the time.
Oh, and none of our customers failed, well they could fail but would get a conditional pass because the cost of the repairs could almost always be above $450. , they didn't have to spend that and we would never make them, it just had to cost that, as long as you were not selling the car you could do this every 2 years, its going to need those same expensive parts every e-test until you decide to sell the car.
The new machine is even more of a joke, plenty of cars that failed 2 years ago are now passing the test, and cars that should pass are failing.
Its such a mess and such a scam how this parsons company did this to all of ontario. You must buy their machines only, and have them come in and do scheduled maintenance, busy or slow shop its the same time. only they can do it, it costs the shop more money, and it is not optional, you get it whether you need it or not.
