Scotts Performance Steering Dampers vs Ohlins Steering Dampers

Hey, i was thinking of getting a steering damper for my 2001 honda cbr f4i. I cant seem to make up my mind and was looking for some outside advice.

Just got a scotts... Great damper... It's the most adjustable damper on the market. High speed, low speed damping, plus sweep - how far through the turn the damping is active. The piston type only has damping firmness.

Ive owned both, on the same bike...ANd I will never buy a Scotts again...Ohlins rod type is the only damper I will ever buy

If you do research you will find Ohlins actually designed the Scotts damper for MX use...And sold the rights to sell the damper with sport bike mounting kits to Scotts...Ohlins designed the damper for MX use with a service interval of something like only 50 hours. They felt that this was fine for competition MX bikes but not street bikes...And therefore did not want to take on the liability selling them for street bikes..Scotts came in and bought the rights...

Ive actually had some come through my hands with both markings on them Scotts and Ohlins...But always sold as a Scotts for sport bike kits...

hated the scott's I had on my race bike. I have a GPR now and it's much better, but I'm sure nowhere near an ohlins
