Scorpion helmet issue.

May 2022 I splurged and bought myself the Scorpion EXO ST 1400 Carbon Fibre helmet. I've been very pleased with the year of ownership. It's quiet, light and fits my head well.

I was on a ride yesterday (August 09, 2023) and the front locking mechanism fell off my visor onto my lap. Luckily I was able to notice it. There's a small screw that attaches this mechanism to the visor that backed itself out.

I contacted Scorpion yesterday via their website form and submitted a warranty request for this part. The form only allows for a US address to be entered.
I'm a few months outside of their 1 year warranty period but I hope they will still honour it. I don't want to purchase a new visor just because a small screw fell off.

I'll give them until Monday for a response and then I'll try their actual help@scorpion address

For the front part of the visor that locks to the shell? I only see screws for the sides.

Check out hardware stores, they might have something in stainless that will match up

Some stores carry some odd stuff

Some more action:
Thank you for the response. Is it possible to have the issue escalated? I’m not looking for a new visor but if you have the small screws available to reattach the lock, I’ll happy accept those and reattach the lock myself.

Please keep in mind the riding season in Ontario, Canada is only 6 months long so this helmet and visor haven’t been used nearly as much as someone living in Southern California would use it, so I feel this is not an unreasonable request and Scorpion stand behind their ($600 CAD) product.

From the Scorpion Linkdedin page:
“At ScorpionEXO® we are DEDICATED to providing premium quality safety products you can rely on, we live for our brand from start to finish and we ride the same streets as you do”

I’d like to see these words put into action.

Thank you,

Matthew

Response:
Hi Matthew,

You can contact the dealer you purchased the helmet from in Canada to initiate the warranty claim. For Canadian warranties, they do go through the dealer that the item is purchased through, you can find that information on our warranty page:

I just contacted Fortnine and hopefully I'll be able to get a tiny little screw for ants.

Had one side mechanism fall into my hand once, when I was swapping to a clear visor for the ride home at a lookout. That was on an older model. I wasn't too impressed, even though I managed to catch, and put back in all of the parts.

Sounds like some light blue loctite is a good idea for these helmets.

It's just a screw or two? Save the fuss and find it locally?

Normally I would but it's a tiny little thing to attach the lock to the visor. I very much doubt Home Depot would have something that small but I may go this weekend and look

Try some of the other screws from the helmet to see if you can find one that fits. It's easier to measure a small male part than a female hole. Then at least you know what you are looking for. Some of us probably have the screws in our random parts collections if we knew the size.

I have lots of random sizes laying around but nothing this small

This was a plastic piece and a spring that were friction fit to allow the removal and reinstallation of face shields, while complying with patents. Just need to be more careful when doing so.

Try Bolts Plus or an equal bolt specialty store, I am sure they will have something

maybe even an optic store, how long is the screw your looking for?
