Scorpio SR-i900 alarm - no power

Trying to troubleshoot this Scorpio alarm. Bought it last year on this forum, supposedly working. Finally got a chance to hook it up, but get nothing, alarm seems to be completely dead. Hook it up to the battery and there is no chirping, can't arm from remote, etc.

Question is - is there some kind of reset that can be done to this alarm? It is getting 12V power, as I can see 12V on the output pins of the accessory connector. If not, is this thing serviceable - i.e. can it be opened and fixed? Thanks.

Figured out where the problem is. Previous owner hooked up the alarm using universal connector kit. I hooked it up using OEM HON-2 kit for CBR600 F4i. What I did, I just hooked it up with a universal connector, and hooked up the black wire directly to negative terminal of the alarm. The alarm chirped right away. So looks like my HON-2 connector is not providing ground somehow. Will have to double-check where it's supposed to take ground from.

Figured it out. Scorpio HON-2 connector kit, which is supposed to work with F4i is garbage. My brake lights don't have the provided connectors, and they manage to get GROUND only off the brake light, but not turn signals. So I can get it to work with HON-2 connector kit by hooking up one turn signal and brake light connector into 2nd turn signal, so I can have ground for the alarm.

Basically, I have to go find their 'generic' kit type connectors at Princess Auto and cut the wires, which I didn't want to do and was assured by Scorpio that this damn connector kit will fit my bike.

Just wanted to clear something out.

You cannot attach brake light connector to turn signal connector. Scorpio alarm is looking for 12V to the rear light - that's how it verifies whether the key is in the bike to disable the alarm. It also uses turn signal count for 'emergency' disable feature in case the remote is lost.

So what I had to do is cut off the 'universal Honda' connector for rear light on Scorpio HON-2 harness, strip about 2cm of insulation from wires going to ground and 12V/power of rear light, attach the Scorpio wires there (solder and insulate well). Now everything works like it should.

Lesson learn: do not trust those 'no cut' connector kits, even though manufacturer tells you that it will fit your bike model properly.

I have the same alarm with R in the end, my brother bought it last yr but feels doesn't need it, so he wants to sell it to me for 200, for those of u who have it can u guys post feedback, the good and bad of it. Do I really even need it for a Duc Monster 696. Thanks

If you don't want it tell your bro I will buy it for 200. Let me know

Here is a decent recent thread: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforum/showthread.php?169581-Motorcycle-Alarms
I bought my alarm for two reasons. First, insurance requested it to provide theft and comprehensive insurance (otherwise liability only). Second, it will deter idiots who try to play with your bike while you're not there, and it will deter "joy rider" thieves. It obviously won't be much help with professional thieves, but it will slow them down.

For 200, it's an all right price for this alarm, depending on the add-ons included. Add-ons for this alarm are ignition disable, perimeter sensor and back-up battery. I got mine used with first two add-ons (just no extra battery) for a bit less than that price a several months ago, and that was a killer deal.

And yes, unless you can verify with someone who previously installed that alarm on a bike like yours that "your model, no-cut harness" will actually fit your bike model, don't bother spending extra $20-25, just go with a universal harness, which is included. Like I wrote earlier, HON-2 harness did not 100% fit CBR600 F4i, rear light connectors were different. I also didn't like the included universal harness, as it uses T-Tap connectors to tap off turn signals, power and ground. Those connectors are not very reliable over time, especially on the bikes, which are open to weather and vibrate a lot. So I used HON-2 harness to hook up my turn signals, but for the rear light I actually stripped insulation off the two wires on the bike (didn't cut them), cut the rear light connector off the HON-2 harness, wrapped the two harness wires around bike wires, soldered them properly and insulated everything with electric tape.

Mine worked fine (the bike specific harness).

I have the default one that needs to be cut; didn't read all your posts but if you're looking for it you can has =D

It's not 'cut' really, it's T-tap connectors, which people shouldn't use on the bikes anyway. The only wire that has to be actually cut to insert ignition disable module in series is the one that sends power to fuel disable relay on the bike.
