i just called state farm and they quoted me 135 per month for a 50cc scooter. i'm 23 years old and have had my full g license for the past 5 years. why do i see these 23 year olds with an m1 paying only a few hundred for a year?

call a different insurance company.

Also depends on your driving history. I heard SF doesnt like dirty records...

The thing is, my record is squeaky clean; no tickets and no accidents. This is why I'm confused about my outrageously high premium.

when I had my first bike (also 50cc scooter) mine was about $1300 3rd party only. It'll drop considerably after the first year and when you're 25. I think those you're hearing about are fabled or far outside of toronto.

Try http://www.csib.org/

A few years ago I got quoted $900/yr for a cbr 125 through Jevco. Same age but I live in Richmond Hill and had 2 years of experience back then. A 50cc scooter I would assume is cheaper.

I believe with SF anything under 500cc has about the same rate give or take few dollars difference. Were your friends with StateFarm when they had couple hundred per year for 50cc because when I was with SF I was 30 years old with M over 10 years clean driving record never been in an accident and had 3 bikes simultaneously insured with them. $450 for a 250cc scooter, $425 for a 50cc moped and $430 for a 125cc motorcycle along with my car insurance with them so I must have got ripped off if your friends were only paying couple hundreds per year.

try calling http://www.bairdmacgregor.com/forms/ContactUsBMIB.aspx

they got me a policy on a 50 cc scooter for less than 700 a year. that's 700 with a 100% surcharge.

it was through royal sun alliance facility i thing.

Ontario doesn't have scooter insurance really, scooter insurance should be roughly 50 dollars a year and 75 dollars to register, that is price you would be paying if you were living in Montreal. That is why you don't see any
scooters around, you need special license to ride it and insurance is ridiculously expensive, almost anywhere in the world to ride scooter, car license is sufficient and insurance is something you pay with small change
you find in your pockets. Here in "Yours to discover" how much they will rip you off ON your only choice is E-bike, no sticker, no insurance, as i see, you can "legally" ride it anywhere: sidewalk, road, park walkways, downtown pretty much anywhere you wish it seems with absolute disregard for traffic laws. So take your pick, 135 dollars a month and you have to obey traffic rules or E-bike and "No rules apply".

thanks I'll try that whenever I move back to Ontario. I like to ride all sorts of small motorbikes. I'm paying just $100/year for my 250cc scooter here in Calgary. Don't know if it's because it's a scooter or not but a 50cc you don't need a motorcycle license here so be curious to know what the insurance would be on it. Especially if a 14 year old can legally ride it.

For a scooter you should probably try getting a quote with The Co-operators.
