Scamming a scammer

I received a response from a rental ad I posted on KIJIJI. Obviously a scammer, I'm interested in having a little fun. Anyone have ideas? I was thinking when the time comes and he sends a fraudulent cheque my way, I could also ask for $5 USD in cash as a bank processing fee or something. :D

Hello Sir,

I work as an auditor in an oil servicing company
(Global Oil Serv. Africa). There is an assignment
Given to me by my company out of my country, which
will make me seek accomodation which i will stay for
two months (60days) for completion of the assignment.

I will like to rent your apartment/room for the two months
(60days $425 per month) that am willing to stay.

I want to know if its still available.

Isaac Williams.

use a different email once you respond your screwed,

lol.. bro have your fun with scammers! i love these guys, its pure jokes and games!

Having done a bit of 419 baiting a while ago, I have 2 implications that apply here:
1) Scamming the scammer makes you guilty of fraud
2) 419 scammers are members of organized crime organizations with members in Canada, Europe and the US. You piss the wrong one off and you might have a couple of angry Nigerians at your door.

LMAO he has a good point, i would just let it be.

These scammers must have nothing better to do with their time if they're going to send their goons after you and I'm sure their lawyers will be waiting with baited breath to nail you with fraud.

If you want to have some fun I highly recommend the following site:

http://www.netscientia.com/nigerian_email_scam.html

As you can see down the page it gives the scammers a "bank account" website and login with password where you can direct them to make their payments. I adore the screens that come up. :D (It's completely harmless but it gets the point across.)

Maybe I'm naive (that's doubtful), but I don't see how the guy's message makes it obvious that he's a scammer.

I know people like having fun, but one thing that is often forgotten, especially on the internet is that there is another human on the other side. While their methods may seem unscrupulous, I doubt they're making millions or even a decent wage. They could very well just be trying to eek out an existence. To middle class people $5 might be nothing but who knows, $5 might be a week's worth of dinner or something to the person on the other side. Just let it slide.

Guymen who make it big, they get to live better than most of us here. That includes multiple pimped out houses, women, toys, the works. Now chances are, that the ones that contact you are poor (it's the management that gets the lion's share), but they're involved with organized crime. At a couple of points in my life, my family couldn't make ends meet and eating wasn't a certainty. We found ways to make it without becoming criminals. So can they.

So your argument is that we should let them scam people because they don't make alot of money? I don't think people should be screwing with them either, but we shouldn't feel sorry for them. These people don't steal $5 the steal thousands, they ruin people's lives.

Like people said above they're dangerous and have dangerous connections here. What they're doing is a crime both in Canada and in Nigeria. They're really no different than the person that mugs you on the street, or steals your bike. Those people are often poor too, so should we 'Just let it slide' when that happens as well?

My argument is to just move on. Like the same you do with e-mails about online pharmacies or non-surgical ways to increase your breast size. My time is worth more than sinking to their level and trying to scam the scammer.

While I appreciate everyone's input, I have since deleted the email. It's not worth my time and effort to pursue this (as fun as it may have been) :D.

For those of you who may be interested, I found this article on the net.
