Scammers From Chicago

I imagine this is old news but someone is trying to run scams with bikes posted on Kijiji.

I have a bike on there and received a text message from (312) 778-7970 asking that I e-mail them because they are urgent to buy my bike. I looked up the area code and it's Chicago so SCAM is the first thing that runs through my mind.

I sent an e-mail back saying that it was still available and here is the reply,

Thanks for the prompt reply,I would like to know the lowest price for it,i want you to get back
to me with more picture and the present condition of it because i could not come over to inspect it,i am buying it locally here as a birthday gift for my Son that is living in Malaysia
I am at sea at the moment as i am a marine biologist (i work on the St-Lawrence river in
Quebec. my office: Pilotes du Bas-St-Laurent] and due to the nature of my work, phone calls is
restricted. It was my son that check your advert and sent you a text to contact me (his mother )
on my email address because i am currently offshore.I am really sure he will be more than happy if i am able to purchase it from you because this is what he want and chose from the Advert.
You need not worry yourself about how it will get to him there in Malaysia as i have a contact
of shipping company there that will be handling the pick up and all the paper work.

If anyone would like to have fun with the scammer, the e-mail address is Karen Glower <karenglower@gmail.com>

Ha! thats hilarious, I just got a text message from same person, asking me to email to karen glover @gmail or something. I get these scam emails a lot. Often times they say that they work as an oil engineer out on the sea near the carribean or something.. I tell them hey what a coincidence, I'm in the carribean too, and I also have a ship that I work on, which ship are u on on? We can just meet up and you can give me the cash and i'll tell my brother to give your son the bike..

That usually shuts them up.

Wow....ppl still fall for this stuff? I guess so, if they keep doing it.

When selling a bike on Kijiji I got them ALL the time. I even had one go so far as to say "I like honest sellers". Hahahah!
