Scala G4 Users - Please Help

I recently bought a G4. It works decent for me, however I am having problems with VOX

I cant voice activate the intercom if Im listening to radio.
I also cannot answer the phone(Blackberry 9700) with voice.
If I click the mobile button it does not switch to make a call on my cell.

If anyone has one and can help me out I would appreciate it.

We had a lot of trouble with VOX (both answering the phone and activating the intercom) until we switched the VOX sensitivity from medium to high. We still have to be quite loud, but at least it works now. You can change the VOX sensitivity with their configuration software on your PC, or using the voice config menu (if you have the new 3.0+ software).

I can push the mobile button to activate voice dialing with my iPhone - it works ok, but often picks the wrong contact. My wife hasn't tried it with her Blackberry yet, so I can't help there.

i pretty much have the same issues. i've never been able to answer my iphone 4 with just speaking... i just push the mobile button on incoming calls. i also increased the vox sensitivity to high for intercom chatter.

I didn't like the delay on the VOX so I turned it off and now can talk no problem. I have my Samsung Wave paired to my GPS then my GPS to my G4. I also have my G4 paired to my wife's G4 for the intercom.

Same here, myself and several friends disabled the VOX mode on our headsets as it was causing all kinds of problems. Especially when there were more than 4 riders around with them, the headsets were having a tendency to randomly connect to people we weren't paired to. Weird issues.

Myself, I've had an ongoing problem with the headset randomly getting "stuck" with what sounds like an audio channel being open with a slight hissing/buzzing sound, and when this happens it seems that other Scala's can't activate a radio channel with me until I reset the unit. Clicking the phone button to activate Voice Command and then clicking again to cancel it seems to also fix it.

That said -- the strangest thing I've noticed is that sometimes when this audio channel issue happens, even if I *haven't* clicked the phone button, the headset is randomly activating an attempted FaceTime session on my iPhone 4! I have absolutely no idea how or why this would happen, and it only happens with the Scala, no other BT devices I use, and the audio channel thing happened before with my iPhone 3GS as well.

Sometimes I wonder if we should all write in to Cardo and complain/inquire about these issues...

We just got back from a trip to the BRP and Deals Gap. 3 riders.
When we left, all 3 of us could talk to each other just fine. A few days into the ride, one rider was having issues with the connection dropping or it sounding like it had constant static.
The last few days, my right speaker stopped working, and the sound quality was terrible.
These G4 scala riders are a real pain when they don't work.

Does anyone know if you have a teamset can both sets hear music thats coming through an MP3 player? Either through bluetooth or the wire?

Nope, unfortunately you cannot share a music stream across the headsets. That would be awesome though, although it'd drain the batteries on the units pretty quick.

Maybe the next Scala model will allow for that. :p

Well I was pondering this conundrum during a smoke around 4:20 last night, and I figured since the G4 has an FM receiver and you can get an iPhone FM transmitter...couldnt that work??

In theory yes, but you wouldn't be able to talk at the same time as listening to the FM band (if that were your intention.) Also, many FM transmitters only have a fairly limited range, some only strong enough to work within a vehicle for example, so you'd probably need to be riding pretty close together for it to work well.

Yeah it would be for my pillion rider only so range won't be an issue. And I assume the intercom would work just like normal.
