I just went through this process last week. My GF got booked for getting caught on the red light camera back in October. The letter says the light was red for
0.3 seconds before she entered the intersection.
If there was a Tail wind she would have not gotten caught.
Anyways, this is how it goes. (in Brampton anyways)
You plead: Guilty with an explanation and send the ticket in. You then receive a court date to see the prosecutor for an "early Resolution" or something like that.
On the day of court: Arrive atleast 5-15 minutes before the scheduled time, and talk to the information booth (or wherever) to find out where you need to go.
Afterwards your name will be called and you'll sit with the prosecutor briefly and go over your options.
They are usually as follows:
-Plead not guilty and get a court date (not recommended)
-Plead guilty to a lower fine. (ours was $130)
After the prosecutor has met with everyone you all pile into the court room and go up one at a time and plead guilty and all that Jazz.
Keep in mind if you were clocked going fairly fast going through the red-light the prosecutor may not lower the fine as much.
It still shouldn't effect your driver abstract.
