Saturday May 27 - Lunch in Calabogie

If anyone wants to join, I'm going for a long ride to Calabogie for lunch and over to Barry's Bay, then through Haliburton.

3 other riders max, since smaller groups are easier to manage.

Pace: Not for new riders. If you have ridden with me before - same deal as always, but slower pace for an early season ride. Responsible in the straights, respectful in the smaller towns and fun the corners. Gas stops every 200-250km or so.

Time: Leaving my house in Mississauga at around 6am-6:30am. Hope to be home by 7pm. Can meet anywhere between Mississauga and the start of the twisty roads wherever we decide to go (likely Innisfil, or Port Perry or Odessa).

Breaks/Lunch: I'm bringing snacks and will eat lunch at the Redneck Bistro in Calabogie - not a super long sit down restaurant meal, but will stop for a nice lunch there. Breaks every couple hours somewhere scenic.

Route: Round trip from Mississauga will be around 12hrs / 900km. General route posted below - nice and easy.

Post up or PM if interested:)
Cheers!

The Rideau Lakes area is my stomping grounds.
I can add some sugestions such as Burnt Hills Road
Unfortunately I am working that weekend.

A heads up that Hwy 11 in the Keelerville area is being prepped for re-pavement.
Hard pack dirt and gravel but little loose stuff as 2 weeks ago.

I'm up for it but my rear tire is done and I just ordered a new one, not sure if it'll arrive before Monday.

Thanks - I love Burnt Hills Rd. Lots of fabulous roads in that area.

Sounds good. So far I have 1 other coming and maybe 2.

I’ll probably head up to Barry’s Bay and include some of the nicer roads around Calabogie and Haliburton.

Desert Lake Road is fun but it is getting rough in the middleDessert Lake Road.jpg

Looks like a fantastic ride and very well planned out. Enjoy and we expect a few pics!

Looks like some great road choices. Thanks for posting up. You aren’t worried about cottage traffic on way back?
Yeah there will be cottage traffic on the way back, but if we head east towards Calabogie, then north towards Barry's Bay and back through Haliburton, we can make our way over to the top of the 404 using backroads without hitting very much traffic.
If we take any main roads to get over to the top of the 404, there will be some heavy traffic for sure.

edit: Route added to first post.

Tire still not in, can't join :( but I'm sure you'll have a great ride, the roads up there are always fun
I actually can't go now because I am dj'ing at a party on Sunday night til 1:30am
I thought the party was on Saturday night, but checked again and realized it's Sunday so now I won't be home til very late.

So riding next weekend, or more likely that I'm taking a day off work and going on a weekday instead - between May 31-June 2.

I'm free any day May 29 - June 2nd also and would be happy to join up. Let me know (text or PM best as I may not see this thread).
