Damned I was so ****** off once I finally got home this morning 4 hours after I had left from work.

As I rode away from work I noticed that my rear end was going up and down like a pogo stick or something. I thought it was just the rode undulating underneath me for some reason. I pulled over, initially to change gloves as my hands were getting a nice cold breeze, and noticed that I had a flat rear tire. So I rode another 100 feet or so and parked it in a parking lot beside the main road. I get my lid off and start walking down the road to the pay-phone. Call up the auto-club at about 7AM and wait.........wait..............wait. Finally he arrives at 8:15AM. I ask him if he can plug a tire on the side of the road and he said yes. So we try to pull the finishing nail out of my rear tire but it got pushed in instead. Put the tire plug in and hand the guy a $20 and I go on my way. Happy as a clam that I can continue to ride home.

Then about 20miles later, once I am on the highway I notice that the rear end is starting to sway right and left slightly. I start cursing out loud, while doing about 60 MPH, because I suspect the rear tire to be flat again. Sure enough once I pull of to the shoulder on the right and take a look the tire is FLAT!!!!!! So I limp the bike over to the next exit going only about 10MPH on the shoulder and get off and stop at the gas station. Looked at the tire and notice that the plug is MISSING!

Call the auto-club again, now it is about 9:30AM, and wait about 1/2 hour. Once he arrives, my wife arrived who I had called this time to come by( as I was only about 2 miles from home), and we start loading the V onto the flatbed. Once home I just push her HEAVY *** into the garage for the rest of the day.

I then installed my new battery into my Nissan Altima and called my insurance broker to put the car back onto the insurance policy.

Then I e-mail Pete's Superbike in Quebec for tire availability. I go upstairs to sleep as it is already 1:30PM and I have to wake at 6:30PM to get ready for work. Wake up to the alarm clock, get dressed and check e-mail and get a reply from the tier guy. "I have a front Pilot Activ 100/90-18 in stock and a BT45 110/90-18 rear in stock. I could do them really cheap if you want them. $125 for the pair, Taxe and shipping included! Anything else would have to be ordered and would cost much more.
Thanks, Sebastien".

Looks like a good deal to me. Just will have to get them installed and balanced once they arrive.

So now it is off to work again, all be it in a cage for the first time this year.

Also a good review will be in order for Sebastien at Pete's Superbike.

What?!? Thats absolute insanity. Who uses a pay-phone nowadays?

+1

"Got a flat and the plug didn't hold" is not thread-worthy.

"I had to use a pay phone today", now there's a thread with meat on it's bones.

I like the segue into installing a battery in your car.

Damn, I'm guessing your wife is the quiet one. lol

Got damn, i got a screw in my front tire coming home today. Good timing i suppose, was needing a new front anyway.

Yes but did you use a pay phone?

On a different topic, I would never plug a bike tire. I know there's lots of people that have, but the OP's experience is a good indicator of what COULD happen. Not worth the risk unless it's to limp home at less than 80kmh.

Damned that was fast. I ordered AND payed for the tires yesterday at about 2-3PM and the FedEx guy arrived with them at my door at 10AM this morning.

Way to go Sebastien at Pete's Superbike. www.petes-superbike.com

tire slime: great until you have to change your tire.

I have my rear tire plugged. I used rubber cement and let it set overnight before riding on it. I was super paranoid for quite some time, but I must have done about 6000 kms on it and it holds pressure fine.

It also depends on the location and severity of the puncture.
