safety stickers on a car

sometime this weekend, I saw a mini-van with a sticker on it that said

" for safety purposes this vehicle does not exceed 100 kph "

It makes me think that if that vehicle does not exceed that speed, it in fact could be a hazzard itself.
We have all been on highways where the average speed is above the posted limit, and the vehicle thats actually driving the posted limit is really the one that is causing the problems.

I also think the same thing with speed-limiters on trucks. let them keep up with traffic, rather than obstruct it.

what do you think ?

Not only is it a hazard but really what's the point? If they get into a head on crash while traveling at 100km/h with another car/truck/whatever going the same speed, the result will still be deadly.

It's not the speed that kills you, it's the stop.

"for safety purposes this vehicle's driver uses common sense and is situationally aware" is what it should say

If the rest of the traffic is blasting by you then being a hard headed idiot and still doing a 100km/h doesnt make you safe.

Its the brain washed masses thinking that if they dont speed even a bit all will be well, as they text, change lanes without looking or signaling, dont follow ANY other rules but 100km/h and they think they're the safest drivers out there.

My fiancees aunt actually came out and told me "I think i'm a good driver".... I wouldnt let her drive a clunker to a junk yard....

well do you know anybody who does NOT think they are a good driver/rider.

Most people think they are great at driving/riding, playing the stockmarket and sex.

I don't do it for safety, I do it to save money. Try driving 100km/h vs. even 120 and see how much you can save on gas. I would drive even slower if they lowered the limit. It's really not that hard to leave a little earlier.

I don't get this crap, where are you driving where EVERYONE is speeding? And friend and I drove up to Simcoe County on Monday doing 110km/h (his choice), and we passed many people and the cars passing us weren't going much faster.

This.

I live outside the GTA and I usually set my cruise at 110. I will spend most of my time in the right lane. There is some traffic going ~100 and there is no safety issue. I'd estimate the average speed of traffic at 115-120.

I am a god in the bedroom. Not so good at the stockmarket (because I've never bothered, could learn if I wanted to), I'm okay at riding. Decent with cars, but I can't reverse worth ****.

Can't get angry at those doing the limit. As long as they stay in the right lane. It would be awesome though if they did 105 so that the 18 wheelers don't take 5km to pass them.

Had a dude yesterday doing 95 with a crappy old house trailer with no working tail lights. It took about 10 minutes for 3 trucks to get by him on the right (for some reason he stayed in the left lane). If you can't do the speed limit, get that contraption off the road.

I did Ottawa to simcoe and back this weekend. All 400 series hwy and the average speed is just around 120. It's those "super safe" drivers that are white knuckled in the middle lane doing 100 that cause lots of issues. Either park your *** in the right lane so you don't have people passing you on both sides or stay off the highway.

Wouldn't be a problem as noted above if "keep right except to pass" was ingrained on everyone's mind. Also when I passed my test in the UK aeons ago I was told "if you're going to pass, make it positive" ie...spend as little time as possible in the passing lane. Not "I can't be bothered adjusting the cruise control so I will take 4h to pass this car". I can't stand it when someone passes someone doing 110kmh while doing 110.0003 kmh.

What was this sticker for? Was this a business vehicle that had a speed limiter in it, or is this the new "baby on board" sign that people put up on their cars so that they can drive like tools?

Regardless, as mentioned, you can't really hate on a driver doing the limit so long as they're in the proper lane. If you're going to observe the rules of the road, try and observe all of them goddamnit.....

There are signs stating this, it's just not translated into enough languages.

It just indicates that the vehicle is driven by the same type of ppl that put "Baby On Board" sticker on the back of their minivan/death cage. A buncha nimrods that like to find whatever excuse to help them escape the responsibilities as proper drivers.
Do they think these lame as s stickers will help them prevent being hit by a speeder or drunken driver....cuz they got distracted talking to their kids in the back or just forgot to check their blind spots...?

baby on board stickers are being superseded by the stick family stickers...its cool, you've warned me you're a possible soccer mom moron...

looks like you guys answered your own question. you said the average person is going 20 over.

the first guy said he set his speed at 110 ( which is speeding ) and people still passed him.

if you're not willing to go faster than 100, stay off the friggin highway, is all im saying.

if you're going 100 on the 407 You are a Hazzard, cause almost everyone on there is going 130

try this at pacific mall and surrounding area. People there can't figure what red, yellow and green lights mean.

So in your world 20 km/h is the difference between safe and hazard? Interesting.

Well I guess I'll continue to be a hazard then. Lol.
