I bought an older car, cheap, and fixing it up now. I'm not so good with rust, however.
So I decided to find an inexpensive shop/person on kijiji. I don't need show quality, just a decent job.
This guy gave me a very good quote but I can't find one single review anywhere.
Wondering if anyone used his services?

LOL come on....you know the saying... starts with "if its too good to be true..."

From personal experience, fixing rust on a car is a waste of time and money. Once the cancer sets in it just keeps going and going. Your rust will be back in a year or so. Especially if you're just doing spot fixes. Free advice, take it for what it's worth.

I agree, I have ground down the rust to bare metal used POR15 and did what I read I needed to do but still in a year it came back. I think the only way is to cut the rusted area completely out with a 1 inch border and weld in new. My "plan" on my wifes 1997 Camry is to simply spray over the rust around the rear wheel well. Obviously not a permanent solution but it looks okay and is less noticeable. It is a 16 year old car!

As far as the $89 rust fix I would bet that once they get a hold of your car and start the job "aka - point of no return" all of the sudden the rust is much deeper that what they thought and it will cost extra. Chaa Ching!

You're right, but if it gives you let's say extra 2 yrs of use out of that car, it's still way cheaper than new car payments.

I'd just rustproof the crap outta it. In my experience when the rustproofing oil soaks into the rust, it slows down everything completely

Another thing, new cars come galvanized from the factory. Once that zinc wears off there is no stopping

POR15 worked really well for me. I did not even clean the metal, as per instructions. Remember, it depends where the rust comes from. If you paint rust on top but it comes from the back it won't stop. Oil works pretty well for inaccessible spots.

I was quoted $280 for two rust spots. The 89.99 thing is probably just for bondo and fibre glass, I need sheet metal work.

In 2 years I'll most likely have another car. I am familiar with recurring issues when it comes to rust.

I was just wondering if anyone ever heard if this particular person/shop, that's all.
