Rubber Spacers??????

I am in need of a rubber spacer. Something like the picture below.

I need to fasten a clamp/mount onto an existing pipe. Painted smooth finish. The OD of the existing pipe is 1.5". The clamp that I am trying to mount to this pipe is designed for a 1.75" pipe. Clamp is secured by two bolts that squeeze the two "C's" together. I need to make up the difference. The height/thickness of the clamp is about 1 inch or so. I can cut down the spacer if needed.

It would be a bonus if it was white or off white as that is the color or the pipe and clamp. Even light grey would do.

If you needed one, where would you source it?

Non motorcycle application. Medical setting.

Does it have to be rubbery? A split piece of 1 1/2" pvc pipe may work and hits your colour.

3d printer would be quick to draw and print. TPU can be finicky in some printers.

A Fernco coupling from the plumbing aisle may get you close (if they come that small).

You can buy sheet rubber, cut a rectangle and wrap. I have some to resole shoes that would probably work.

Shortly after I posted the thread a Fernco coupling came into my head. I may have to visit a plumbing supplier to get the size I need and not HD. Trick will be to find a white one.

I feel rubber will be better as it should provide some grip for the clamp. I cannot have it get loose or slide down the pipe.

White electrical tape , wind around till you have the thickness and put clamp on. Done in two minutes and I’ll bet you have a roll of white tape .

I have all the colors of the rainbow in electrical tape.
This is not a bad solution. For sure will work , but would be my last resort.

I thought about that. I assume this is a paying commercial gig. I wouldnt be happy if I was the client and saw that even if it is a great solution. The stacked edges will quickly collect dirt and look like crap.

That's exactly what it is.
Although I know this specific client would not care but I hate doing stuff like that. I know it is not the right way of doing it regardless if he will notice or not. So I don't do it. In 6 months time, he will appreciate the extra effort I am putting into this. (when there is no dirt build up)

I took a walk through my local hardware store (aka. my garage) and I found a vacuum hose fitting from a different application.
I will try to make this work. Just slice it down the side to be able to wrap around the pipe. Then trim it to the needed height.

Would heat shrink work. Use multiple layers

Try for adhesive lined for the inner layers and to build up ridges if needed. Add a layer of unlined in the color of your choice

Unlined doesn’t ooze the glue liner

Sayal might have it

Shouldn't PVC plumbing/vent pipes have fittings to fit this application. They are white. Not sure about the fernco's they are usually black. You might be able to use a rubber stopper in the end for the reduction and cut it out to fit. Then maybe white duck tape to wrap it all, just for cosmetics.

While picking up supplies at Sayal on Matheson I noticed they had 2" white heat shrink, About $18.00 a four foot piece.

Heat shrink won't work as the end of the pipe is not accessible.

I would suggest cutting up an inner tube but they probably don't make them anymore!

Did the vacuum hose fitting work? If not....

Depending on the material of the pipe you could head to Metal Supermarket or the like and get the same material (or similar, so no reaction) in a 1.5" ID and 1.75" OD (0.125 wall). Cut a short length and slice it down the middle into two pieces and make your own spacer. PVC could also be used BUT I have no idea if you can find some with the same ID/OD, metal should not be a problem at the right place.

You can cruise through HD and get a pipe coupling (rubber one with clamps) but at a different size. Throw out the clamps and metal (or put them into the parts boxes...) and use the internal rubber cut to size. If you can find one with a rubber sleeve that is 1/8" thick even better.

Third option just buy some 1/8" thick rubber sheet, roll, etc. and cut out a piece to wrap the pipe once around and clamp. Really does not need to start as a round item. Thickness is key, something like this....

My vacuum hose fitting worked like a charm.
Here is the final product.
