Hey guys, soon i'm going to be getting my m2 through rti. I was just wondering, anyone with past experiences, is the test difficult or not. Any suggestions would be great. Also, can I take my license instead of my permit? I got my g1 and m1 at the same time, and after they sent me my license, I think I lost my permits. Would my license be fine to take?

test is pretty easy, get on as many different bikes as you can,as long as you have a m1 you will be ok.

Alright so I would not need to find my m1 permit? My license would be perfectly fine? Also, if I register right now for august 24th - 26th, will I be registered for that day or will I be given a date?

Give them a call and book the date you want. You NEED your M1 with you. No M1 no course.
So by M1 you mean my permit correct? Because I only received one license which sais "class": g1. Can someone please clarify.

On the top of the "permit" it says "Temporary G1/G2/G OR M1 License" the green paper they gave you IS your M1 license. The card isn't.

RTI is great. Like other have said, try the different styles to see which you prefer. They teach skills that are more advanced than what is required by MTO so the test is pretty easy. Good luck and see you out there in the near future.

Ya, RTI is amazing. Everything is very well laid out. They set out the track for the test Sunday after lunch and give you 45 mins of practice time when instructors give you feedback. After that, it's test time. You need to mess up a lot to fail the test, so don't be nervous at all.

And YES, you need the GREEN PERMIT for your M1. If you don't have the permit, you can't do the course so find that piece of paper :)

Although others have said try different bikes, just to add -- Try other bikes on the first day, but on the second (test day), try to stick with the one you like best, and get very comfortable with it for the test.

As for the test itself, it wasn't that hard, skills-wise. The hardest part I had with it was the chalk lines they use to mark lanes is fairly dull, so I found it a little hard to tell if I was inside the marked 'lane' or not (sometimes). I also suggest when they let you practice the test beforehand (they give you 20-30 minutes), try to visit as many test stations as you can. I got stuck at one of them I was having minor issues with, and as a result I never got to practice the other sections/components before test time (although I still passed).

Also as others have said, your actual M1 paper (green government paper license) is required for ALL THREE dates -- theory class, practical day 1, and practical day 2. When I got mine, I put it in my riding jacket so there was no way I could lose it. If you have lost yours, definitely get another one before your course date.

Try to get there early and find the bike you want to be tested on. Claim your bike early in the day and keep it all day sunday. You shouldn't have any problems :)

I did the same as jmills and conundrum.

First day I tried a couple of bikes, I wanted to ride the CBR125s as it was the style of bike I was planning on getting but after awhile I realized it just wasn't working for me. I ended up switching to some other basic Honda and kept that one until my test. Second day my gloves and helmet were always left on the bike..... "Claimed it". I wasn't going to chance messing up my test on a bike that I wasn't familiar with.

Alright guys, thanks for all your wonderful responses! Hopefully I'll pass too!! Just to clarify one last time, its that green paper where you rip the bottom. That bottom piece is my m1 license until I get my m2 when then they will send me a new license correct? Thanks guys, wish me luck!

Also anyone know any shops where I can get cheap dot approved helmets just for the course. When I get my bike I'll buy a good helmet.

I don't recall ripping anything (maybe they did it at the DriveTest centre?), but it is the green/white paper they give you that states your driver's license number, class, etc. When you pass the RTI course, they give you a SEALED envelope that you have to take into a DriveTest center no sooner than 60 days AFTER you got your M1. If you take it in too early or open the envelope yourself (DriveTest has to open it), then you'll need to pay and get another one from RTI.

Once you've done the above, they'll issue you a new paper license (looks the same as before, but will have the M1 section upgraded to M2), and you should receive a new plastic license in the mail within a week or so.

Alright just another question, say my m1 is going to expire on the 29th of august. Say I finish the m2 course by the 26th. Does that mean I have to take it to mto before the 29th?

Yes, if your M1 expires on the 29th, you'll need to submit the paperwork to drivetest before the 29th. Good luck at the course. Have a blast, and bring tons of water.

I took it this past weekend. Its pretty simple test. They give you lots of practice time. In my class of 15, I think 3 or 4 people were unsuccessful though.
