Going West from Trafalgar Rd. The first S bend covered in gravel. Rider went down just before I arrived. Watched him ride off. Hope he is 100%.
That bend is usually bad. Neighbours throw gravel on the bends. Yesterday was particular bad as gravel was also scattered by the cagers.

this is the worst time of year to be going down any of the RR roads in Halton...the region loves to put fresh chip down every spring...I almost lost mine last year on 20 between 25 and Guelph line...hope he's ok and be careful everyone!

The cause of this particular sand-covered mess is that a week or two ago, the township topped up or filled in the shoulder on the westernmost bend. Cars drop a wheel off the inside of that corner all the time - which is why it had to be topped up with gravel, but it's also why that fresh gravel has now become strewn all over the road. There's another spot just to the west of this where they also filled up the shoulder, but it's on a straightaway, and is not a problem.

The underlying cause could be fixed by filling that inside shoulder with concrete, with rumble strip if needed, which would only need to be done ONCE and would solve the problem, but that would actually cost something.

To concrete that inside corner would require footing below the frost line, then the inevitable frost movement of the road surface, now you create a ridge where the water pools and you get ice patches 5 months a year. And the people living out there (where I used to live) could care less about bicycles and motorcycles. They would actually oppose the construction if it meant more 'GP stars' cooking the corners.

I'm not denying its fun, but don't count on a lot of support to make regional roads faster to negotiate on your motorbike.

I'd also like to mention that I don't think the people there are that keen on injuring (or killing) motorcyclists:

If you've ever watched a trailer make its way through a tight bend (especially an S-turn) a few of the tires from the vehicle or trailer will invariably end up dragging shoulder debris onto the road. RR15 sees lots of trailer traffic due to the equestrian enthusiasts in the area.

Ride safe, homies.

Wasn`t too bad today. Gravel in the centre of each lane. Mind you, I wouldn`t bomb through there for the time being. Up to Guelph line was pretty clean. That is going West from Trafalgar road.

It's still March and many areas less then a week ago saw a lot of freezing rain....so yah the roads are dirty. I think my local area had a lot of sand salt they wanted to get rid of on this last storm.
