maybe if you're talking about two engines, say you're trying to match engine speed "We need to match their RPMs". Otherwise, there's only one RPM whether the value is 0, 1, or 100000, it's only a single reading.

This is wat OP is suggesting, reads like he is saying the opposite though. He wants RPM and not RPMs.
