Rocket fire from ninja 250 exhaust ?

Hi everyone,

I have a 250 ninja and the last few days I've hear a funny noise when I start my bike, it only happens when I am leaving home.

The last two days I've gone to start my bike (switch key on, pull choke, press start button) and every time I hear a rocket like sound, is like when you have compressed air and all of a sudden it shoots out. Bike does not start, so I press the starter again and now it runs fine.

I am a bit concern since on my old bike that never happened. could this be water build up? should I be worried?
Again, it only happened the last two days, when it has rained at some point in the day, and the bike is been sitting for all night.

I park at a garage so the sound gets easily amplified and may be why at work I don't hear it.
 
Make sure you are not rolling the throttle while the bike is off. It usually happens when you do that.

I know I am not, but maybe someone in the building is :( but only in the last two days? that is odd
 
That's usually what causes it (check here). But could be something else...
 
maybe there is a rocket in your bike?
 
This sounds more like air being released really fast as suppose to explosive.. I am going to record this tomorrow to see if it repeats.
 
sounds like it's back firing.
happens here and there on my ninja 250 when i had one too.
its normal lol
espeically if its a bit chilly
 
she is all stock, no dirty carb or air filter or plugs..

I tried this morning and it did not sound like that, I have a feeling is only going to happen after riding in the rain and parking it. I will update next time it happens.
