Roadside Assistance

You name is the only one that makes sense you can do the roadside online no need to even call.

Will do so tomorrow. Buddy just told me he checked his auto insurance and CAA+ was $1000/year less than his current…

So will call them for that also.

I have some coverage with World Elite Mastercard , coverage with my Toyota Warranty ( to closest Toyota shop) and the CAA+ , I’m a belt and suspenders guy .
For what it’s worth CAA has discounts all over, just terribly promoted . I ask at every hotel and restaurant. They share points with the US triple A , and my Hotel discount for one night in Phoenix paid the membership for a year.

I have CAA+. Belive its the premium package. Covers car, motorcycle and bike also.
If you also get insurance through them you can get an additional 5% off the insurance. Which ends up paying the roadside for itself. I found the CAA auto insurance was cheaper with them. But for motorcycle I used TD.

We've had CAA for years and rarely use it. On a cost per call basis we're probably around $500 for the odd battery boost or flat tire change. It's the premium package with longer range and flatbed.

I also go with CAA travel medical insurance.

Forgot to mention. With CAA you also get 0.03 cents off per litre of gas at Shell gas stations. Just insert the CAA card prior to pumping.
So on average thats an additional $50 -$60 per year in savings.
Also 10% discount at several restaurant brands.. Swiss Chalet for example. $4-$6 off per order.

I have caa premier too. Last used this October when the bike had giant nail in tire and wouldn’t keep air for more than 30 seconds.

My only complaint is CAA moved to online road assistance submissions, and they don’t distinguish between bikes and cars.
So it creates longer wait time, wrong tow, etc. Must phone it in and press many numbers to get to a live agent now.

Ps I’ve mentioned it to them over phone

That’s actually not bad! May even be worth to upgrade my normal silver card to that one.

CAA+ for me, CT MC roadside for the wife…but looks like card must be present at time of service.
I didn't ask to be upgraded, it just happened. Not sure if you can request an upgrade as it is has no annual fee amd better benefits. Worth a shot though.

Reviving this thread to let everyone know that CT Roadside Assistance does not cover motorcycles.

I have it with my credit card as well, but I'll have to get CAA again now that I've learned this

It was mentioned earlier, but only in passing since this was a car thread.

I had to use CAA the other day as the keys got locked in the car. Wife's car at home and I had the other spare key with me and I was NOT at home.

I called CAA and ordered roadside assistance. Driver came to the house within 15 min of the call.

Did not ask for any proof of membership or anything like that. My wife did have the physical card on her but it has my name on it.

CAA does not do card checks on Premier membership calls and bookings through the app are considered verified at the time of dispatch - those calls don't require the driver to stay with the vehicle.

That was new to me -- the CAA driver who picked me and my bike up a couple of weeks ago confirmed.

Interesting, good to know.

I am an associate member on my dads account (living at his address ;) for family discount) . I do have the Premier level because of the bike and he has the Plus level. The plus level also covered the bike but I am more likely to be out of town on my bike then he is in his car.

I am not sure which member they put the call under.

Just to add to the list of CAA benefits, you get some free consults through Maple, the online GP service, the number depending on your membership level.

I've used it for a peace-of-mind online consult for the beginnings of a skin reaction that I was worried might be shingles (I have had shingles, and even though I caught it early, it was pretty awful, and gets worse if you leave it untreated). I was able to get a consult with a dermatologist on a Saturday morning by uploading photos beforehand and then doing a video call.

The alternatives were to wait until Monday on the off chance I could get in to see my family doctor, or try my luck at a walk-in clinic with long waits and usually terrible doctors, not to mention a high chance of picking up a bug in the waiting room. (ER isn't a choice, I'll only go if I'll die otherwise, as the odds are even that they'll just make things worse.) With Maple, I could hang at home and the doctor connected within an hour. He put my mind at ease that it wasn't shingles, and was able to give me a prescription online for a mild cortisone cream. I was really impressed.
