River Rd (Haldimand)

Unless my memory and eyes are failing me (very possibly), the section of River Rd southeast of Cayuga starting from Hwy 3 (the food truck) seems to have been repaved, but the surface looks exactly like the gravel on the shoulders (as if they somehow managed to glue the gravel together. So while the paved surface itself is fine for spirited riding, it's really hard to see the loose gravel strewn all over, and I only realized it when the bike was moving around under me and when I slowed down I could hear the sound of gravel being kicked up by my tires. I actually had to stop to feel the ground to figure out if the road was paved or not.

Is that what that stuff was? I thought it was like the stuff on Faraday in the Highlands, which was black and composed of larger chunks that were easy to tell from the gravel.
