RIP Lemmy

Wow... He was one of those guys that I kind of thought would outlive a lot of his peers... Not sure why I thought that. I got to see Motorhead a few times and enjoyed the shows. RIP...

When you burn the candle in the middle as well as both ends, reaching 70 is a feat.

A few articles I've read (example) say he learned of an aggressive cancer on Boxing Day and a couple of days later was dead. One reads:

"Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, founding member and singer in the British heavy metal band Motörhead, has died at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer.

The band announced on their Facebook page that Lemmy learned of the disease on 26 December, and was at home when he died.
"

Motorhead's FB page says:

"There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made its way down the street, with his family."

Hard to picture how one can be diagnosed with cancer and two days later be killed by it at home. I wonder, then, did he exit on his own terms?

There was articles on his health and weight loss last year. I would imagine it had been in him for a while and someone finally made him go to a doctor.

Speed, a couple packs of smokes and a bottle of jack daniels everyday until recently and the dude lived to 70.

My hero.

In the last couple of years he stopped drinking whiskey for health reasons, switched to vodka instead.

Exactly. It's incredibly sad that he's passed and he was such a respected figure in music. But at the end of the day it's absolutely insane he made it to 70
