Rights to Know of Government Activities

It's a long read and a long listen but where does the line get drawn and by whom?

In short, there appears to be a coverup underway regarding the exchange of information and possibly viruses between Canada and the Chinese lab under scrutiny for the Covid 19 release.

I don't know where this has gone recently.

I also understand that not every Canadian has the right to our full military capabilities and strategies.

However, particularly in non-military issues, should the government be able to block information to save Canada from international embarrassment.

If Canada doesn't want to be embarrassed internationally we should stop electing people that do embarrassing things.

JT wants light only on things he releases. He is terrified of any stray light as it all lights up things that make him look incompetent and/or corrupt. The problem is, that means he needs to suppress everything as very little he does has "our" best interests at the core.

Only things that should be kept secret in a democratic state is military and spy capabilities imo.

Not even those to be honest. Not much military or spy capabilities are really out of this world. Our enemies know our capabilities.

Only reason to hide it from your citizens when your enemies know, is that they are budget black holes that are underperforming.

The results of the multi-thousands dollar Liberal Party poll must have shown most women voters prefer Trudy clean shaven.

You know, I'd laugh at this if it wasn't the grim reality. The girls are still in love with him, never mind that he is a scoundrel.

I'm amazed at how the Canadian electronic media continues to downplay the lab story. You wouldn't think it possible for this level of corruption to exist in a modern democracy, but Canada continues to prove this is a 1st world country with at 3rd world media. Does this fool deserve a 3rd term in office? Absolutely not. Do we have great alternatives? Absolutely not. But given the gravity of dishonesty, corrupt spending, and the dangerous manipulation of the press I'd say the alternatives are better. I'd even vote NDP if I thought it would get rid of him. Sadly, it appears poll after poll reveals a startling reality about woman voters.

Are we where Germany was in 1933? A glorious leader will lead us to the prosperity we deserve.

Twelve years later Hitler was dead along with 50 million others. It sounds like tin hat theory but it scares me. JT may well be re-elected.

Why do people believe lies? Because they don't want to hear the truth, at any cost. Denial.

Electing the alternative give us a brief respite while they figure out where the troughs are and how they operate.

This.

But...I wish people would stop freaking out about the party less and be more worried about the people and the results. I know people who would never in their life vote Liberal (or vice versa, Conservative) and will vote for "Their Party" regardless of who's standing at the podium. They could run a poorly trained chimp and they've vote for it versus the "other party" who may be running a perfectly awesome candidate who is actually well aligned with their wants and desires politically....but they're the wrong party.

5 years from now we may have a conservative government but all the same or potentially worse problems...but how many people who constantly rant about the liberals right now will chime in and bash their own party at that moment and express a desire for change again? Typically, not many.

I vote for the person, not the party. In the last 15 years I've voted for all 3 parties at various times.

They are almost all entitled morons that will screw you in a heartbeat independent of party affiliation. The problem with voting for the person is the whole party system. Maybe I wanted to vote for JWR because I believe she is smart and capable and will represent my interests but with the party system, that means I am also voting for the biggest knob in Canada to be our leader. I may strategically vote against JWR to try to prevent a huge wanker from becoming PM.

I would love if we voted for our local candidate that we believed aligned with our interests. All the elected candidates then go to Ottawa and vote amongst themselves to pick a leader out of the group. No need to go back to the population at large for that vote as they already picked someone to represent their interests. The party system is the root of the evil.

At least change it so a minority government has to supported by the second in line with vote counts. That way the most voters get their say. Instead, if the leading party is a seat or two short, they cuddle up to an independent or fringe party for the right to run the show.

The sad part is that the future is a Ponzi scheme coming unravelled. No one wants to know that the future is bleak and the cure may be worse than the disease.

Too many people are living day to day and haven't the option of preparing for tomorrow. They're down to their last potato and are hungry. If they plant the potato, in a few months there will be lots to eat but they will have died of starvation while waiting. So they eat the potato and live another day with their fingers crossed.

We have killed the goose that lays the golden eggs.
