Riding with the old man

Over labour day weekend I had my first long trip in awhile, riding from Toronto, down to my parents place just outside of Woodstock, Ont, and then onto a friends in Dorchester, up to Sarnia, and all around Harsen's Island just over into Michigan.

Many highlights, and one crazy highlight of getting caught in a horrible thunderstorm on the way home Saturday night and getting separated. Nice to have caring friends who later send you a text message saying "Where the hell are you!". Luckily some couple took me in, gave me some water and a towel until the storm passed!

By far the best highlight was the ride from my parents place to my friends in Dorchester in which my dad came for the ride in his very bright yellow goldwing. My dad's getting up there in years and recently bought a convertible mustang which will likely eventually replace his Goldwing as his summer fun, so it was great to finally get to ride along side him. He gave me my first road bike almost 20 years ago, a 1984 Yamaha Heritage Special and when he heard I got back into biking this summer, was excited to go for a ride together. Glad we finally did.

I rode with my dad for the time earlier this summer too.
He's got an old 86 Goldwing Aspencade.
Went for a day trip to Ottawa from Laval and took scenic routes. Had another fellow GTAMer with us as well, she lives in Montreal.

It's a nice feeling to ride along with my dad, after watching him ride bikes, dirt bikes, dune buggeys and drive race cars for years as a kid. :)

Rode with my Dad and Sister to Grove City, PA on the same weekend :)

Its sweet getting to ride with your dad :)

I did a road trip to NS this summer my dad and stepmom, myself and lunatic. Was an awesome trip and felt kinda like we were carrying on the motorcycling tradition.

Sad to say I'll never get the chance, as my dad died several years before I was even old enough to get a license.

Will always have the many hours on the seat behind him, though, and the love of motorcycling that he shared with me.
If one wanted to be corny about it, one could say he always rides with me... but that amount of cheese gives me tummy trouble.

The goal now is to stay alive long enough to someday share the road with my two young'uns.
