This evening my wife and I 2-Uped :) First time I 2-uped on my 06 Kawasaki Ninja 650R and thought I'd share some of my observations with you. I'd love extra tips, comments, suggestions from experienced 2-upers :)

very good video, thanks for sharing. It will be useful to the new riders who have never done 2 up before.

2 up with her to Annina's Bakery in Uxbridge. Have a coffee and get a butter tart. She will melt in your arms later.

From my personal experience with 2 up riding, a top case with a backrest helps out a huge amount. It gives your passenger something to lean on so they don't keep smacking into you. Don't forget to adjust your suspension (if possible) and inflate your tires accordingly.

Oh, one other thing, Howard Stern would point out - 5'4" at 100 lbs - that's perfect ;)

best tip for riding 2 up.... convince the passenger to stay at home or hop in a cage :)

biggest thing i noticed that front brake really throws everyone forward. Use the back brake more. you have more weight over the rear tire, so there is more traction there.

on a lighter note, i dont think ive heard anyone say i 2-uped. lol

2 up with her to Annina's Bakery in Uxbridge.

I usually get the apple strudel :)

The girl behind the counter said they sell over 800 butter tarts per week. Not bad for such a small town.

Glad to hear of your first adventure in 2upping. Just a note: I find if I stop more slowly than usual my wife does not press into my back at all.

Darn it, I was in Uxbridge today, but wife wasn't with me. Had I know, I would have sampled some food to taste for myself ;)

It's a great little spot with decent selection, good coffee and pastries that are bloody dangerous. Nice spot to sit outside during good weather and a quiet spot upstairs for those not so nice days.

Yea, I try and slow down and gently as possible. It'll take some getting used to it and in no time we'll both be more relaxed 2-Upping.

Huh...
sorry, isn't just time wasting doing those videos???

Even if it is, some people have time to waste or better yet, enjoy wasting time.
Relax a bit, enjoy life.

I personally have only seen one of his videos because I am mostly on GTAM while at work and the proxy blocks most video streams and some photo upload sites, but I get the jist of it by reading the thread.
Everybody rants and expresses themselves in different ways.

@Subject: I ride 2-up a lot with the gf and she's a PERFECT passenger.
The very first time she came with me for a ride I told her there are 3 rules:
- Don't get on or off the bike until I say so.
- Keep one hand on the tank to hold yourself back when I brake and one hand around my waist for when I accelerate.
- Look over the shoulder corresponding to the turn we are about to make.

Right from the get-go she listened to these 3 rules and most of the time I don't notice a difference when I taking turns/curves.
After logging about 10,000kms with me, she's now able to fall asleep on the back when we do long runs. I thought I was crazy!
She puts her hands between my thighs and the side of the tank, this way I can hold her upright and against me.

Sadly though some people can't fight the instinct to stay upright in curves. I brought her sister for a short ride around the block and I told her my rules.
Every time I made a turn, she was counter-leaning lol. I was just putting around town so I was able to deal with it at the low speeds we were going but it made it a little more challenging than it needed to be.

Wow.. that's a lot of KMs 2-Uping. That would make you an expert at it :)

No i didnt!! Im gonna check that now!

It's pretty good to see another thread about 2up riding. Not a lot of noobs will review the stickys. Putting aside the video critique, the feedback from everyone on point is very good.

Each bike has it's handling dynamics for passengers. The automatic adjustments already mentioned. Tire pressure, suspension, stopping distances, brake modulation, using the rear etc. The conversation before getting started, when to get on and off the bike, leaning, moving while in motion or turning etc. all good stuff.

2 up riding helps make u a smoother rider. Unless you enjoy knocking helmets. lol
