Rider Training courses during the week?

Hey guys,

I'm brand new, never rode a bike before and I want to get into it. I've wanted a bike for a long time and I think the time is right. I've been reading all of the great information about the process of getting the license, and it seems the most popular way is to do the training course. My problem is I work in transit, which means it will be many years before I have a weekend off. Are there ever courses during the week? That is the only way I would be able to do one. I'd love to be able to learn from an instructor seeing how I have zero experience, but if it's weekends only I'll have to get a friend to teach me. Also, it seems getting insured is a bit harder without the course. Do I have any options?

Thanks

Check out learningcurves.ca I think they do 3 hr weeknight classes during the summer.

Thank you sir, it appears they do some courses on weeknights and during the day on thursday and friday. I still don't know if I'll be able to do it, but getting those days off is a lot more likely than getting a weekend.

Yes, Learning Curves does offer a weeknight course, call the office at 416.466.9931 and they can tell you when it is being offered.

Centennial College will have their first weekday course beginning June 9-11 located at Warden & Ashtonbee in Scarborough. $479 taxed in, plus you receive a tax receipt. https://secure.centennialcollege.ca/webreg/coursedetail.do?CourseCode=CEMO-801

+1 I did mine there 4 years ago during the week. It was great , there were only 10 of us in the class. Compared to 30-40 during a weekend course. We had alot more one on one instruction time. We had our choices of bikes. The instructors mentioned that we had probably 3 times the normal amount of time on the bikes compared to a weekend course. Went through alot more exercises and more free time to practise on our own.

Durham college has weekday and weekend courses, I am doing my next weekend.

That would be great, the Whitby campus is only ten minutes from my house. I also like the sound of smaller class sizes on weekdays, I imagine it would be that way at Durham too. Now I just have to try to get monday/tuesday off days.

Well this worked out swimmingly. Today at work I found out what my schedule will be for the next 8 weeks, and I will have tuesday/wednesday off days. Durham College is running a couple of courses on Monday evening and Tuesday/Wednesday during the day at the end of June. Thanks for the info!

I did mine at Humber a few years ago during the week. It was great, small class size and more seat time.
