Rider Down Ajax Wed AM

Cars appear to be more careless lately with bikes, i've been almost hit and cut infront of more in the last 2 weeks then the entire summer!

AJAX -- A 44-year-old Ajax man was injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car Wednesday morning.

The accident happened at Salem and Achilles roads in Ajax around 7:35 a.m.

Durham Regional Police spokeswoman Sergeant Nancy van Rooy said callers reported the man was trapped under the car, a Toyota driven by a 27-year-old Ajax woman.

"It sounds like Good Samaritans tried to lift the car off," Sgt. van Rooy said, adding people feared the man was dead.

The man was taken to hospital and his injuries aren't considered life-threatening.

Police are trying to determine the cause of the accident and charges haven't been laid.

I head the news on the radio this morning. Its right outside Endras BMW from the looks of the location.
 
That's close to home for me, I'm in Ajax and Salem is part of my commuting route.

Looks like a left-turn SMIDSY.

Turns out he lives next door to someone I know - He's going to be okay - bruised up, but he's up and walking around, albeit with a cane.
 
South end of Salem, below Rossland is getting super busy. It's a major route down from all the new buildup around Taunton and Rossland. Seems like all the drivers that used to race down Harwood Avenue and Westney Road are choosing that route instead, because it leads right into the 401.

I avoid that part of Salem. There's a Crappy Tire, Home Depot, Costco, and Walmart, and outlet shopping all within a block or two, and the public has blinders on. It's not worth it.
