Revs dropping/bogging at red lights

Once every 20 rides or so, I'll be at a red light and the idle will drop from about 1400rpm down to 500 and back up. This will happen a number of times throughout that ride. On one occasion the revs dropped too low and the bike stalled. Other than the mentioned issue, the bike starts with no issues, runs great throughout all gears, and idle is steady at a consistent 1300-1400rpm.

Thoughts and advice are appreciated.

2004? 11,000kms? That works out to a lot of time spent sitting around. Fuel system could be gummed up a bit (ethanol in fuel tends to cause gumming over time). Have you tried any FI cleaners? My bike experienced very similar behaviour to yours, and it turned out to be the spark plugs.

It is a real RR.

Beverage, I was thinking the sitting around may be playing a part. I haven't tried any FI cleaners. I was thinking of bringing the bike in to Kahuna for a 10,000km tune up. They said they'll spend 4 hours on the bike, flush all fluids and change plugs. Should run me over $400. Would you recommend it?

That sounds about right, I spent more than twice that to get my carbureted thunder cat running, same kind of situation: low km's, lots of sitting.. mine is an 02.
She purrs like a kitten now!

Sounds about right. I would try not to leave the seafoam in the fuel system/tank too long though! If you're going to burn through the 2 tanks of gas right away, then giv'r. If not, I'd try 1 tank or even just half a tank and see how it goes. Seemed to work for this dude with a 98 ZX9R

I'm reading some posts about other ZX6R's stalling, some posters are advising to clean the tank as well. I'd say if the seafoam doesn't do it, just pay the 4 bills to have the repair done.

Not the original owner. I've had the bike for a month now; however, I do know the 11000kms is legit

Kuma, thank for your help. I'll give the seafoam a shot and let you know.

What is Kahuna going to do for $400?

Not entirely sure of all the work they would do, but I will not be using them
