Renting a Motorcycle in the States

Rental places say that they require that you have a valid motorcycle license but the ones that I've looked at don't seem to indicate whether an M2 is ok or if a full M is required.

Specifically, I'm looking to rent one in Arizona while I'm there on business in March.

Our M2 seems, for the most part, equivalent to their M but I'm wondering if anyone here has any specific experience in this sort of thing.

I guess another way to put this would be... Am I allowed to ride my bike south of the border with my M2? If I got pulled over, would they care that it wasn't a full M license?

You can ride a motorcycle in the US with an M2 or M.

Most, if not all US motorcycle rental places don't care which one you have. All they look at is if you have some kind of motorcycle endorsement on your license so you aren't riding around illegally. Some companies that are more diligent actually want to see you ride around their parking lot before they give you the bike, regardless of endorsement.

You'll have to call the specific rental place directly to know for sure.
