The previous owner put an aftermarket oil filter on the bike. The OEM oil filter tool does not fit. How do I take it off? =/

Thanks.

EDIT: It's a Fram oil filer now that I looked at it closer.

Oil Filter wrench?! Strap wrench?! Your hand?

Google is your freind, lots of ideas out there...http://www.google.ca/#output=search...09,d.b2I&fp=50f3b56cc08158c9&biw=1366&bih=638

Googling as I posted this thread for, hopefully, someone with personal experiences.

No strap or oil filter wrench with me. Tried, as Google suggested, to put a latex glove into the OEM filter tool to take up the extra space. Too much extra space :(

EDIT: Would anyone recommend doing this? lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uJ-2ulsKBQ

If you don't have the right tools, putting a screw drive throught the filter is a way to remove it. However in my 'personal' experience - they would be the last method I try.

If you already have a oil fiter wrench - get creative - see if you can put some masking take or yes that rubber glove to take out the slack.

If you put a screw driver throught the filter - and the filter rips - you will be in a larger pickle. Use a large channel lock pliers - those do the trick too.

Both hands after you take the fairings off

or any of the suggestions above. or if u wanna ride to brooklin tomorrow I'll take it out for you

Beautiful Toronto and its rude people, you offer to do something for them for free and not even a thank you

Sorry dude, didn't mean to offend or disrespect. I thought you were referring to Brooklin/Brooklyn New York. I didn't know Ontario even had a Brooklin.

On a side note, I managed to tear off one of the fairing connectors straight off the fairing lol

Would super glue or this fix it?

EDIT: Before somebody asks how: I have Woodcraft frame sliders installed. When removing one side of fairings from the bike, I noticed it was stuck. I gave it a slight nudge and heard a crack =( The fairing was getting caught on the screw/bolt that goes through the frame slider puck. Fairing came right off after I unscrewed the puck but by then it was too late. :crybaby:

I used to do the screw driver, but that can get messy.

Take channel locks pliers, clamp that hard onto the filter so you bite into it.

Take an adjustible wrench, clamp that onto the channel locks to twist it. Tada.
