Removing front forks

Just curious, is there anything special to keep in mind when removing and re-installing the front forks?

Or is it as simple as disconnecting relevant cables and loosening the top and bottom triple tees? I'm looking to add fork boot covers to my front forks but don't want to wind up with any complicated alignment issues from removing the forks....

Any experienced suggestions/comments welcome.
 
dont disconnect any cables, just lay the handle bars to the side.

unclamp fork tubes, slide fork tubes down and put yuor stuff on and re-torque bolts...

IF YOu don't remove your front wheel it might even go faster...
