Removing and reinstalling wheels; axle lube suggestions?

I've got the service manual, so this should be a breeze, but thought I'd make sure.

Need to get new tires mounted. Last time I rode in, with my mom driving my tires in the cage. This time, I'm going to just bring the wheels and install them back on the bike myself.

1. Remove cotter pin and speedo sensor.
2. Loosen axle nut.
3. Remove axle.
4. Put a piece of cardboard in between the brake caliper.
5. Make sure to transport with brake disc not touching anything to ensure no damage.

The same for the rear, just no speedo sensor, and may need to loosen the chain adjuster to get the chain out of the way. Do I need to remove the sprocket?

Reinstalling the wheel is just the same in reverse, making sure to adjust the chain once the rear is mounted. I'm likely bleeding the brakes at the same time, so just make sure those are ok.

What about lubing the axle? What can I use? All I have is that DuPont Teflon multi-use stuff. I doubt that's good enough. What should I be using? Where can I get it locally?

That's what I use. Just wipe any dirt of with a paper towel, if there is any.

there is no need, or reason make the chain loose, leave it as is.

don't forget the calipers, the front wheel will not come off unless you remove them.

I would go with belray water proof grease . . .

Once the wheel is off, remove the sprocket and the rubber cushions and keep them at home so there's no risk in loosing them.

Give your wheels a quick cleaning too before you take them in, your tire guy will be grateful. :)
