As the title says, I need new tires in the size 110/70/r17 front, 150/60/r17 rear. Would like good rain performance. Not concerned about long life as long as it'll do a few thousand km.

I was interested in PR3s but it seems you can't get a pair in that size. Doesn't seem to be a lot of options unless I mix brands/models fronts to back or try to squeeze a slightly different sized tire on.

I have Metzeler M5s on my 300. Excellent tires, they were great on the track and I had no problems riding in the rain last night.

Also check the Bridgestone S20 and Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2, both popular options for this size.

If you don't mind running a 120 front and a slightly taller 150 rear, Dunlop Roadsmart 2's would be a good choice. Amazing in the rain!

Yeah I have a lot more options if I'm willing to run different than stock sizes. Just not sure if they'll clear the hugger and fender.

Looks like he put a 160 rear on it, too, so that opens up a lot more options, I think.

Imo I wouldn't go bigger, the bike is light and maneuverable it is also only 125cc and many heavier bikes do just fine with a similar footprint of rubber, the larger tires take more effort to spin up which slows accel. they also carry more gyroscopic effect which will reduce how maneuverable the bike is. Also check to make sure the rim widths are in line with the tire manufacturer recommendations for the increased sizes you are looking at. If you don't care about any of that then carry on.

Agreed ^ You're going to ruin the handling of the bike if you up size both tires. There are plenty of options in your stock sizes.

This. ^^
The front size, once uncommon, is no longer uncommon because of all the Ninja 250s and CB250 and 125s...
I know Pirelli has top-quality radials in these sizes.

I have no issues finding tires in the sizes the bike takes. I just had problems finding the most commonly recommended tires both in the correct front and rear sizes without mixing tire models. I do see from this thread that there are a few more options than I thought but still not nearly as common as many other sizes, again, without mixing models, anyway.

Bridgestone 090 is an incredible tire for small bikes......and comes in smaller sizes.

Aprilia RS125

650R takes a 120 front and 160 rear, if memory serves correctly.
I'm running Michelin Pilot Power(non 2CT's)120/60/17 front and 150/60/17 rear on my Aprilia RS 250. I would stick with the stock tire sizes IMO. I can't comment on the rain performance as I have avoided any rain riding so far (and I wish to keep it that way:pukeright:) otherwise I'm very happy with them after 5,000 kms. Heat up nice and predictable when cornering. I can't compare them to anything else but a few friends like and suggest the BT 003's next time around. Good luck with your search. I believe the pilot power come in your size for the front.

The most commonly recommended tires are usually also designed for heavier bikes with more power.
Manufacturers will produce models specifically for the type of a bike so you don't necessarily need to go with something that has been optimized for a litre SS.

Don't be discouraged by the fact that rubber for your bike seems to come in less popular models.

You'd have to try the 70 series rear for fitment, but this is a good option:

Affordable alternative from same manufacturer:

Actually if you go the Sport Attack route instead of the Road Attack line, they have exact fitment. The RS 125 probably won't load the tires much, so you'll likely still get respectable mileage out of them.

Couldn't find it in the proper sizes.

It's actually the rear I have a hard time finding.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Will continue poking around. Probably won't bother replacing them until next season, anyway.

Just out of curiosity, what would be the affect of putting a slightly taller rear on the bike. 150/70/r17 instead of 150/60/17? It would raise the rear a touch, yes? 1.5 cm if I've done the math right... (sidewall height of 90mm on 150/60, 105mm on 150/70) Guess that could do weird things with the handling.

just stick with 150/60, you have plenty of options.
