Rearset positions

Having some problems with finding the best rearset position. Disclaimer: I don't have aftermarket rearsets, but made a few plates from aluminum that allow me to reposition the stock rearsets.

I was wondering if somebody who's been there can help. Here are the positions I've tried:

1) Stock position: good, but my legs are not long enough and I feel like I can't anchor my outside leg good enough when cornering. Peg touching ground is not an issue though---my knee touches long before the peg (I'm hanging off too much?!)

2) 1/2" back, 1/2" up: very uncomfortable, i like to have the ball of my feet on the pegs at all times, so this position moves my feet way back and I feel like I have less leverage flicking the bike.

3) Just 1/2" up from stock position: from all positions I've tried, this feels the best. However, I have a big problem up-shifting (standard shifting). If the shifter is lower, then I struggle to get my foot under it to push it up. If it's higher--then I struggle with the upshifts as I don't seem to have enough bending-up motion freedom and strength in the foot. Lastly, I got the shifter to a position where I upshift to 4th with less problems, but trying to go into 5th is very hard (it needs yet another few mm upward motion).

Anyone had such problems? I'm relatively new and I wonder if I'll eventually get used to it. I can use all the advice I can get from more experienced riders.

Get someone that *knows* what they are doing at a trackday to follow you around for a few laps. Maybe it's just crappy body positioning that's causing some issues, or spend some coin on a Racer5 or Fast course .

For me i am shaped like a square lol, some may say a pear :( My foot position is what ever feels right and works for me, almost duck footed, but meh whatever.

Your BP looks fine in your avatar.

I have my Vortex rearsets all the way up and back. Worked well for me on Wednesday but I'm thinking of lowering them down a notch because my legs were killing me by the end of the third session.

IMO, you should have bought some adjustable rearsets instead of the Pitbull stand.
I'm really trying to say that without sounding like a jackass.

Just reminded me, I have to lift my rearsets a bit

And Jay, that effin battery is now at 12.7v at rest and 11.8v with the engine running. It's recovering itself. Strange eh?

I see you've been spotting the Romper section :) Didn't need another stand anyway (I had 4 of them already), bought the Pit Bull cause it was offered extremely cheap and guy sold his bike and wanted it gone, thought why not let's see how a piece of shiny metal is better than another piece of painted metal doing the same job.

Adjustable rearsets are that---adjustable. Same thing as having different plates, which cost me 3 dollars and 30 minutes to manufacture in my basement. Well, minus the bling factor, for which I couldn't care less. Pegs are replaceable on both. I'm thinking---once a good position is established, the adjustability is useless.

Your legs will keep killing you in any position, until you get used to it. It's hard to judge from just one trackday.

I agree, I was thinking about dropping them throughout the day, but I thought I would tough it out. I will see how my legs react on my next TD. Can't freaking wait.

mine are set at the bottom and back one (half inch) I like them where they are.

You sir be ready to be under constant observation for tips & tricks by me on July 4th :) Hopefully I can follow you for a few turns too, before you turn on the wrist turbo ;)

The last part about the waiting---there's no getting used to for that part ;)
