Rear tire age question

I have a brand new unmounted michelin powers that I got from the previous owner of my bike, however they are from 2007. would they still be ok to use? the rubber does not look aged, cracked or anything of the sort. What say you??

With no heat cycles and no exposure to UV, they should still be pretty good. I'd use 'em and just keep an eye on them in case they age fast.

depending on what you are putting it on. if its a high HP bike, just be careful, for anything else as long as its in good condition, should be fine, but I wouldn't be dragging knee with it. I wouldn't put on anything over 5 years, but its personal preference.

I would be very leary about mounting up 5 year old tires. They likely aren't age cracked but they may very well be age hardened. Initially they'll probably give you the same kind of traction you'd get from a bowling ball. With the reduced price of tires these days, I'm not sure the risk/reward is worth it. If you do mount them, be VERY careful.

Throw them on and practise your burnouts and drifting? How agressive do you plan on riding? They won't be as sticky as new tires, but most riders don't come near the limits (on the street) anyway.

I wouldn't use them for every day.
