Racism sucks!

This just happened. I was a passenger in our van w my son when he accidentally cut off a woman in a parking lot. The woman started honking her horn and yelling at him. I told the woman to relax & that he knew he made a mistake. She swore at me and told me to go ride a camel back to my country. ....I was shocked and couldn't believe what I just heard. BTW I am 3rd/4th generation Irish-Polish descent ( i do have darker skin & beard), so I laughed it off, but it must be hurtful for a recent immigrant to hear this sh1t. If you are a target of racism, try to remember that most people are decent and that hateful types are few and far between and can be found in any country. ...my 2 cents!

Eh, I'd be tempted to disagree. I think on the whole every culture is racist. That doesn't mean every person obviously. Although you will notice that recent immigrants will tend to move to an area where there is already a large population of them.

I'm mixed heritage too and I've gotten the full gambit from "dirty sheet-wearing redneck" to "border hopping cokehead".

Living in the GTA you just get used to it.

I never said it was...I'm saying that the overwhelming majority of newer immigrants I know (and I know a whole bunch being at a University with multiple exchange programs) don't ever experience racism when coming here cause they stick to their own as it were. Example, my ex's family immigrated from Bangladesh, moved right in to Brampton.

I find people that make these type of comments to generally be intellectually challenged.

I'm the exception. When I came to Canada I found where the largest concentration of my fellow nationals were, and got as far from that area as possible.

I didn't move to Canada to walk into a little version of the sh¡t I got tired of.
 
Grew up in quebec city... i got bleached to the core.

Never had any racist issues except
1- an ignorant skinhead that had nothing to do called my friend a nigger digger
2- my friend's old school polish dad was insulted that i was in his house to sleepover

When you grow up and put up with years and years of the same stupid idiosyncrasy, you tend to get the f*ck away from it whenever the chance comes by.
