Race/Track Brake Pads shootout

What pads do you use/recommend/like/dislike for racing and trackday use?

New rotors from MikeyMoto are coming soon so I'm looking to get a new set of pads but figured I would start a discussion and get a little more review-like information out there for everyone based on personal experiences. A bunch of you had said you like the Ferodo XRAC pads, anyone have comments about Galfer pads?

This is for racing use for me, but post up what you like and what you use it for (and where you bought it!)

I've tried:

Vesrah SRJL - great pad, good wear, worked well at Shannonville - bought locally from K-Tec
Ferodo XRAC - also a great pad, wear was reasonable, rotor wear minimal, but I could get it to go off
Ferodo CP1 - brand new pad but similar to their old one, which can take anything but needs some heat
EBC HH - crap initial bite coupled with strong and rising power, not for me as it's inconsistent
Stock Suzuki - soft initial bite and reasonable power, went off after a few laps

That sums up my experience with track oriented pads

DP RDP and Ferodo XRAC I used last year with an Accosato master and Castrol SRF fluid.

Both worked well. Neither went off. I had a caliper issue that ate one set of the XRACs quickly but I fould that the XRAC require a little less lever effort. I'm going back to the XRAC for this season.

That's not really useful as far as reviews come, but I bought Ferodo xrac. However, I just started last year so I don't have much experience with anything else other than the stock suzuki pads for my bike. The latter, combined with stock m.c., stock rubber lines and regular fluid didn't stop me very well at all. It would be very disappointing if my new Accossato master, new steel lines and Motul rbf660 fluid, combined with the Ferodo XRAC pads doesn't result in a day/night difference for me this season.

Since Drew and I will be using the same rotors a you, Mikeymoto actually recommended us using the Galfer pads with his rotors. He says there has been zero issues with them.

Thanks, Sunny.

Which Galfer pads/models were they? He mentioned Galfer but I was looking at the G1375

No problem, we are going with the G1003 (metallic carbon). Mikey didn't mention what pads/models but i'll see what he used for his testing. Drew's going to message you about the pads.

If anyone who has a 1999-2012 R6, or 1998-2006 R6 let us know. We will be able to provide a deal for these pads.

If you are using aftermarket brake rotors and there is a recommendation from the manufacturer, take that into consideration.

I will be using a brand new set of Braketech cast iron rotors this year. They recommend using your old brake pads for a short break-in period to remove the protective coating that they apply to the rotors and then after that, they recommend a specific type of Ferodo brake pad.

I have obviously not ridden on this combination yet - it will be interesting.

Has Mikeymoto experienced problems when people have used other pads with their rotors? Just asking.
My own experience was I put in EBC HH as a first replacement set. People said they were the best and I had them for a while. I rode a session at TMP on a buddies bike which had the Vesrah SRJL and it was a night and day difference. I've since installed them on my bike and love them. I can't speak to the Ferado's but there are a few ppl using them. Combined with a good master and rotors, using the brakes now is far more confidence inspiring.

The only problem Mikeymoto mentioned about other brake pads were the EBC's not bedding in correctly with his rotors.

Send me a price please!

Has anybody had experience with the Carbone Lorraine (CL) c59 pads? Very little info in North America on them, but everything I have read has me leaning towards trying them this season. All I have read is how great these things are and for the price they seem worth a shot, but was looking for some opinions closer to home before I drink the KoolAid.

Have not used the c59 pads, but have used the XBK5 and RX3 pads on my 98 vfr for about 2000km. Amazing pads.
