seems like a cool bike with tons of character, ive always wanted to ride a boxer twin
Agreed, beautiful machine and definitely unique. I wouldn't mind one.
I'd recommend to try a wasser-boxer (water-cooled version) to test ride instead of this older air-cooled engine. Especially if you are coming from your Stupid Duke. Better, ride one with the new Shiftcam VVT technology, something like a R1250R or RS.
The old 1170cc lump is nothing special. I've had two bikes with this engine and it's definitely not the highlight of the motorcycle. I think most folks buy the R NineT for the retro looks and the ability to customize it, not because of the air-cooled boxer.
