R&G No-Cut Frame Sliders (video and pics)

I thought I'd start a separate thread on this, since it kinda got lost in my other "Frame Sliders" thread.

I bought these R&G Fame Sliders because I didn't have to cut through the super expensive faring like other sliders. They are easy to install, but it does take some time to remove and reinstall the fairing.

Hopefully my video and pics below will help someone considering buying these frame sliders.

So in other words, you threw out all the advice given to you by members with experience who informed you that no-cut sliders not only do very little, but can actually cause more damage?

*shakes head, walks away*

Not sure why you're shaking your head, because it's my choice to follow or not follow advice. I'm sure you follow all the advice that's thrown your way bud, keep walking....

I personally feel that if you go with no-cut frame sliders, these are one of the best. Because a lot of no-cut frame sliders just connect via one bolt and use thin metal. These however are bolted in three areas (one to frame and two using clamp) and thick construction.

I just hope you don't have to put them to use.
As mentioned before No-cut frame sliders do not do the job properly, If they did why would so many people go through the hassle of cutting their fairings up?
In this thread they are bolted on the same as yours and it caused major engine damage when the bike just fell over at 0 speed.

I hope you have better luck then him.

You can tell from that above pic that they are not actually supported the same way... much longer bracket. Those R&Gs got good crash report reviews from what I saw when I was looking for no-cuts but they don't fit my bike (and I got different ones now). Not all no-cuts are lacking support.

As a matter of fact, "Bud," I do follow GOOD advice. When I ask a question on a bike forum and people give me solid examples of why something should/should not be done a particular way, I follow it. (You know, like the members here did for you). Otherwise, I don't see the point in bothering to ask a question. Like jeffjones says, I hope you don't have to put them to use.

I appreciate all the advice given here, and it's certainly taken into consideration. I'll continue to ask questions here for people advice, some I'll go with and some I won't.I actually spoke to a motorcycle mechanic at GP Bikes on what do to regarding frame sliders. He recommended not cutting the expensive fairing since there are decent no-cut frame sliders now on the market. Keep in mind that this was an experienced motorcycle mechanic. While cut frame sliders are probably better, but if you get the right no-cut you should be covered.

Yeah, there are plenty of crap no-cuts on eBay which is why everyone will say no-cuts suck. Since 99% of them do.

I've read crash reports of these ones for the 06-08 models, as well as the ones from Ninja650Shop for the 09-11, and the ones from AsianConnection71 on eBay (custom made by a KawiForums/RiderForums member that runs that eStore) for the 09-11 and they all appear to hold up OK. Anything else besides these ones mentioned and cut sliders, not so much.

I got the R&G no cut frame sliders on my bike few weeks before I low side and it did the job saved the fairings only damage on the bike was my mirror.

not everyone wants to take a whole saw to their fairings

They are called FRAME SLIDERS not FAIRINGS SLIDERS

Why not? Sliders are not for protecting your plastics anyway. They're supposed to facilitate smooth sliding and abate damage to your frame. Who cares about the plastics? My bike went down with sliders, guess what got damaged? Uh, the fairings.

For the record - R&G frame sliders are well engineered in my opinion. The no-cuts are only offered where there is something beefy to bolt it on to, and it's in a place that will actually keep the frame off the ground. There are plenty of bikes where they only offer traditional sliders that require cutting.

How are they holding up?

My bike's gone down with no-cuts that even required brackets. The brackets are over 1/2" thick, braced in three places on each side, and braced to each other with a cross bar. Never had any damage beyond some scratching on the pucks. I've never seen any issues with any no-cuts other than the cheap eBay ones.

I will be putting a set of R & G no cuts onto a 2006 Ninja 650R
doesn't look overlly complicated to install them.
