I was told today to get new HIDS on my 07 gixxer, it would cost $250+ tax for parts and labour. Is this a lot? I think I should also consider getting new tires and get them installed too because the guy said my style of riding doesn't go well with the kind of tires I have. How much would it be to get a new set of street tires and have them installed? Is he right about switching from scrubs to street tires? Thanks

HID's are really easy to do on your own if you order the parts from DDM or MTR. If you need help I am sure a few people from GTAM would be willing to come help.

As far as tires go, do you carve up twisties all the time or mostly commute, and what tires are on the bike now?

I stopped recommending DDM when they started shipping right from China. Their quality control has went way down hill and I got two bad ballasts in one order, and the replacements took a month to arrive :(

I've installed this kit on my GF's car, my car and my bike (09 R6S) and had REALLY good results! Super clean cut off for not being in projectors, retarded bright. Super fast shipping too, can't beat the $47 price for 55 watt AC ballasts!!!

Make sure you put in the order notes: One H7 bulb and one H9 bulb, 4300k (unless you want a different colour which I don't recommend). I would send them a separate e-mails once ordered to confirm they understand you need two different bulb types in your single kit.

Super duper plug and play install. I can help you out if you need it :)

I always buy the stickiest tire I can find. It's saved my *** on many of occasions. Look up what size tires your bike uses and order them from Petes Superbike. Get Daniel at Heritage Auto and Power Sports to install them :)

Using scrubs is perfectly fine as long as they are good and sticky without having to get warm :)

read my post on SON, and in fact, search them on GTAM....horrible customer service, terror news of brand new bikes leaving with no oil in them! service taking forever and being done shittily.

HID's are plug and play on gixxers....on my 08 750 the hardest part was figuring out where i want to put the ballast.

in regards to tires....google Pete's Superbikes...hes got amazing deals on tires with $20 3 day shipping and there are tons of local installers that will do it for a great price...anything to keep business away from SON.

I don't carve really. I mostly use my bike to get around and just enjoy listening to her purr. Maybe I haven't logged enough clicks on great roads yet, but i definitely don't need super slick tires for my day to day riding.
apparently my ballasts are done. If I need to buy a whole new HID kit, is it going to be a PITA to put the whole thing in? I don't think it's just an issue of plugging in a new bulb unfortunately. Would love some directions to people or places to get this kinda work done. I've never owned a bike long enough to get new tires or new lights to even think about where to go to get the work done, so now that I'm here....I just dunno where to go or who to ask :(

When you order the new kit I linked above you can just swap out your existing ballasts for those new ballasts. They will be the same size or smaller, exactly the same connectors. It's should be super super easy!
