Quiet helmet recommendations?

I like modular helmets, have a nolan n-102 now and was great on the goldwing, but since switching to a more naked bike i am finding the wind noise to be more then a little annoying.

I have been eyeing the shark modular helmet it my local dealer for a while now, but its not cheap and would be silly to buy it then find out it is worse then my nolan:)

so looking to see what you guys/gals recommend for a quiet modular helmet?

I hear you. I wish there was some place at the store where you could experience wind noise in the helmet before buying.

I just picked up an HJC IS-16 (not modular) and the 2 air vents on above the visor are quite loud even when closed. If I put duct tape over them the volume
level drops considerably!

Wear earplugs there is no helmet made that keeps the wind noise at a safe volume for your hearing

Arai Vector-2, most quiet helmet I've ever used. Even without earplugs I have trouble hearing people speak

Schuberth C3/C3 Pro is one of the quietest, I still wear ear plugs though for longer rides.

I have a Vector 2 and to me, it's much noisier than my Shoei Qwest. I'm also curious if modular helmets are noisier than a regular full face lids just by their very nature?

I found most noise come form the neck area, and a modular closes that area off more than a regular full face.

Or don't wear earplugs for a few years and then you can wear any helmet and just turn down the volume on your hearing-aid. ;)

Modular tends to be noisier because of the extra protuberances for those two bolts that may be positioned right at your temples.

Thanks for the replys. not sure about all modulars being more noisy by design, most of them don't seem to have anything sticking out over non modular, on some it very hard to tell at all, the shark one even with it in my hand it was hard to tell the the chin actually flips up.

the nolan i have n-102 is a first gen i guess, the n-103 was a big improvement, and they say n-104 is worlds better.

so its down to another nolan or the shark, i will be sure to update with the results of whatever i choose, i swear:)

I had a Shark Evoline, and just upgraded to a Shoei Neotec. The Shoei is far quieter.

I have a short commute every day so I don't bother, but if I'm riding for more than 1/2 an hour I use hearing protection.
