Two people airlifted after motorcycle tire ‘disintegrates’ on QEW

Two people have been airlifted to a trauma centre after being thrown from a motorcycle that was travelling on the Queen Elizabeth Way Monday evening.

I'm looking really hard at this photo, its obviously a spoked wheel but where has the inner tube and rim tape gone ?
The tire must have deflated in a catastrophic fashion to cause that kind of damage.
In any event, I hope rider and passenger are going to be okay.

Tube could be in tire. I've never seen rim tape bugger off (although I haven't had a catastrophic failure at speed). We can't discuss too much here or infractions/cleanup will happen. Hopefully the riders are recovering.
