This is relevant to anyone with an 888LM control panel for their Liftmaster/Chamberlain garage door opener. Looks like this:

One morning I noticed my Liftmaster garage door app logged the door opening and jamming, then closing at 4am and 5am when I know nobody was in there. I thought someone had tried to break in, so I went to take a look, but the button on the panel wasn't responding to open the door. I thought maybe we had one of those quick power losses with immediate recovery that messes up my motion sensor work light, but after unplugging and plugging, it still wasn't working. While googling on my phone to see what was going on, the garage door suddenly opened a foot and jammed. It never eventually closed on its own, so I had to pull the disconnect rope and close it manually.

Turns out this is a known issue with this control panel model as the capacitors in them age. You can de-solder the old caps and install new ones, but Liftmaster/Chamberlain recognizes this as a problem and will send you out a replacement newer model 889LMMC at no charge. You just need to send a pic of the front and back of your 888. Mine was from 2015, so way out of warranty. Took about 5 days to arrive shipped from within Ontario.

Glad to see they have an improved model. Those panels opening uncommanded has happened for many years.
