problem with a cbr929rr

Hey guys,
Bought a 929RR for the track. was told the stator was shot when I bought it. got home and hooked up to a boost and fired it up ( I leave the booster hooked up because I don't know about the stator so I don't want it to die because of power). Running fine for about 30sec - 1 min. Then it quickly starts to reverse surge (rpm drops then returns), then she quits. Lots of power, if I key off key on, I can hear the fuel pump prime. Bike cranks hard, won't start again, just cranks and tries to catch. Leave it (I tried the next day) and she fires up fine...then goes thru the same process. fuses are good, checked the relays they're good. No FI light, no error codes. I'm kind confused because it does run for that little bit but won't restart after it dies. I'm thinking something is getting overloaded and shutting it down but not sure where to check.
Next up I'm going to test fuel flow, just to make sure the pump or flow isnt flaky.

My 2000 cbr929 did the exact same thing since it was new. Some days she'd run perfect, sometimes it'd run for a few mins, surge and die. Wouldn't restart, red FI light would be on. I eventually obtained a new ECU (as per the recommendation from the cbr forums at the time) from a written off 2001 and swapped it with mine = problem fixed.

Well they said it's the stator.
Your battery is not being charged

Well, told me stator. Thats why i leave the booster on while running. Its fully charged and would last a lot longer than 30 seconds. I've also hooked it up to my running car, so battery and charging system are eliminated. I sure hope its not the ecu. Don't want to mess with that. Going to check the pulse generator and fuel flow on the weekend. Hoping to be at the track tomorrow.

I've also hooked it up to my running car
Yikes! If it wasn't your ECU before, it sure damn might be now!! Car should never be running, the voltage surge when you connect the jumper cables can fry all kinds of stuff!

Good luck in your troubleshooting. It took me almost a year to fix mine, after Honda refused to replace the ECU. They replaced every sensor, TPS, fuel injectors, everything, but wouldn't authorize a replacement ECU :(

I've never heard a voltage surge from a running car would cause a problem. Still charges at 14.2 same as the bike. It's pissing me off though. Was too busy getting ready for that track day at tmp to look at the bike. Hopefully this week I can dig back into it again.
